Which is harder to debut? boygroup or girl group

Thing is with boy groups you either make it big or you don't make it at all, there's no in between. They rely on their fandom size so much, so if your fandom isn't big, you're not making any money.

With girl groups, they rely on the size of their fandom too but I think the general public is more open to songs by girl groups. Think of all the viral hits in the past few years, nearly all of them have been girl groups. Also middle tier groups have better charting than even top tier boy groups.

I think that's why Produce started out with a girls season. It got the general public interested in the franchise so when they did the second season, they focused on fandom building.

But i guess you are right. it should be easier to recruit/scout girl group member since there should be much more girls than boys trying to go for that career.

if we speak about economic situation its more risky to debute a girl group. even if the general public is more open to them and let them chart more easily. the most money is made from the fans due to concerts, merch, fanmeetings, etc. and boygroups have a big advantage there.

boy group i guess. just make a generic gg with songs that appeal to the general public.

with boy groups, you need to build a strong fandom. you need something special to build a strong fandom. that's harder than being generic.

gg - imo gg tend to disband faster than bg
