Have Ateez ditched their pirate concept?

  • They didn't. Why do you think that? (genuinely asking, I'm not being sarcastic)

Well I know they have detours like the Illusion/Wave summer concept which was more tropical vibes or at least like pirates who just pulled up to hang out on a tropical island vibes, but in general I feel like they've got less "piratey" and are going for a softer more colourful thing?

I thought maybe they were phasing it out.

I hope they don't. It's one of the most unique concepts in K-Pop right now, I like their loud pirate songs.

  • Wait Ateez have a pirate concept ?

i don't remember seeing anything in the few MV i saw from them reminding me pirate

Their debut song is called "Pirate King"

yeah but i don't follow their concept

and it's not the first time that group release song who have nothing to do with their concept , NCT for example release superhuman but they don't have a superheroes concept

and the few mv i watch from them i didn't notice any reference to a pirate concept

The thing is that ATEEZ pirate's concept is highlighted more than in their MVs, but their teasers, lyrics, performances, members' hints, fan content. So, even when It isn't clear in their music videos like Illusion and Wave were, the storyline is still there. It's a whole lore.

Since the beginning of Fever Series I've paid attention that It might represent a prequel of the story they start to tell on Treasure Series, because of this video. It's like they are showing how were their normal lifes before, how it was for them to start the adventure, how It was for them to arrive until where they are today and how, during this journey, they have been struggling in a utopia of what a new world may represent.

Well they have some pirate stuff in their earlier songs like in "Wonderland" they have Jack Sparrow reference.

  • Who doesn't know ATEEZ Pirate's concept

Watch this performance for clear skin

Honestly with me anything with lore just goes in one ear and out the other.

I just hope we get more pirate songs. Hala Hala is my 4th gen fave <3

Almost all main-track MVs feature a ship and lyrics about searching a treasure or similiar.

As they debuted with their tracks TREASURE and PIRATE KING they revealed that their concept is inspired by the anime One Piece.

PIRATE KING as the name says is about the king of the pirates aka. it refers to One Piece where they have a kind of king amongst the pirates (I think it was Ruffy, IDK I never got into the show so sorry if its wrong).

TREASURE is a sequal to PIRATE KING where they sing about going to find their personal treasure

I think the MV to SAY MY NAME was also inspired trought a specific story, not sure if it was a pirate story or just realated to stealing/searching for something, but I remember it was said that the MV was based on I think a book.

WONDERLAND is also based on One Piece I think. Or at least I remember that people said that there is a story realated to it or something because since I didn't watched it I have no idea about it but I think it was said that there was a place in One Piece called WONDERLAND or something like that.

WAVE and ILLUSION also feature the hunt for a treasure. In the MV to ILLUSION you also see the ship.

The story goes on with ANSWER about not being afraid anymore of what will happen and to go trought everything together.

INCEPTION is I think the only title-track MV that is not based on the pirate-story so far.

Following there is THANXX where you can also see the ship again

And if you see the MV to I'm The One you will notice also a type of searching for something

.... yup thats the whole story ....

Also each time a big flag apears in the MVs, it symbolizes their personal pirate-crew flag because in the historcal records/notes it's mentioned how each individual crew of pirates had their own flag so you knew who is with you and who not, so let's say you are a normal group of people on a ship and spy with binoculars on other ships than you could easily make out who is a pirate-crew and who not so for example you look around and see 2 royal ships, some random fisherman's ship and than all of a suddon a pirate ship that will steal your gold and from the flag you knew if your in danger or not if the other ship would come closser to yours
