I see some people really against the idea of solos/sub-units with a lot of OT9 or nothing and I'm curious as to why? Divisions amongst fans/accusations of favoritism that may occur? They already have so much music/content out as a group and can still come back as a group once a year with sub-units/solos etc. around it so we'd still get plenty of music.
Why are some Onces against the idea of sub units for TWICE?

Cause they already barely function as a kpop group as 9?

The main reason is to prevent an akgae problem or favoritism issue. Official sub-units would have to be evenly broken down and given the same amount of promotion and content for it to really work.
What I think would be a great way to add some variety without causing any problems would be to have sub-unit songs on an upcoming album. Both OMG and Gfriend did that with some of their songs and it worked really well.

BTS, Loona and NCT have subunits though and how is having a bias no different than an akgae problem?

They are more functioning than your crusty old ass

I love subunits. They're a nice way to keep a group active while a member or two is busy doing something (Astro Moonbin & Sanha) or even try a different style or vibe (EXO-SC). I can see it turning into a favoritism issue. If they do two subunits made of different members, people may feel like one got more or better promotions than the other.

we could have gotten a 3mix sub unit similar to SNSD-TTS in between Fake & True and M&M

I remember reading compilations of stuffs NCT Lucas spilled in the past about solo promotions.
Now I just feel that some of these solo/subunit stuffs are not always beneficial to the group. There are pros and cons in everything. Atm, group projects just feel a safer Idk. I think at the end of the day, the end product which is music is what matter the most.

They've actually been doing a lot of sub-unit performances in their concerts for a few years now. I don't think many ONCEs are actually against sub-units, they're more reacting to people who are arguing for sub-unit or solo promotions out of one of two reasons:
1) TWICE is going to disband soon, and therefore it's imperative to get them started on their solo / sub-unit promotions as quickly as possible so they can survive as individuals after disbandment.
2) Other companies have sub-unit and solo promotions, and their marketing methods are obviously the best model to follow, so JYPE should follow suit and slavishly copy what other companies are doing in order to make TWICE successful.
So, it's not so much that people are arguing against idea of sub-unit or solo promotions in and of themselves, but rather they're arguing against the *spirit* of the arguments for sub-unit and solo promotions.
If TWICE and JYPE head into sub-unit and solo promotions, I'm perfectly happy for them to do so. But let them do so for their own reasons and at their own timing, rather than out of pressure from comparison with others or fear of disbandment.
