What's a common opinion that you don't agree with?

  • Hustle Culture.

I'm sorry but bragging or implying that pushing your mental and physical health to work 80+ hours per week just to show you're a "boss" on Instagram is ridiculous. Especially since most of these hacks don't even work those amount of hours. They just say they do.

And quite frankly it also is undermining the actual struggle of those who need to work that amount just to survive.

  • i'd love to hear why you think basic human necessities shouldn't be free? so should poor people just die of thirst then? should they bleed all over themselves?

these people simply have never seen a person with hygiene poverty before. the real life thing i mean, like sit with these people, talk with them, know about their reality.

    this is simply privileged mindset.

  • - that water, food, period products, other necessities shouldn't be free

    - that free things make people lazy

    - that being poor says anything about a person's character

    - that schools should teach practical knowledge (like paying taxes) instead of for instance, maths

    - that there is a correct way to create art

    - that politics are unimportant

    - that raisins are bad

I forgot to elaborate a bit... I think poor people and those who recieve very little income should have access to public water. Those who don't absolutely need it should buy bottled water or drink filtered water from their homes.

There's a nice video on YouTube showcasing public water fountains in Rome from which people on the streets can stay hydrated.

As for food, I still think it shouldn't be free. However, healthy and basic foods should be cheaper and accesible. Don't know how or why we made fast food less expensive than fruits :whatr:

Period products should also be paid for, but made more accesible and treated the same as toilet paper. Cheap and slightly lower-quality pads should be available in all public restrooms for lower-class girls and women, and emergencies. Those who have enough money and time to calmly buy high-quality period products can have their own.

I'm really sorry if I came off as a bit rude or indifferent in the original post :shyr: I kept it short cause I feel like I always over-explain too much.

  • because everything has a value and thus a cost

no resource is infinite ? they are all finite

even looking at water..you literally pay for water because the drinking water/showering water/ etc are water that is processed...cleaned...fluoride added...etc to make it clean water...all of that has a cost...and when something has a cost someone has to pay for it...now if you are poor or underprivileged it might not be you per se who has to pay for it but someone has to...taxes? charges?

the above is just one example

  • Agreed. People tend to forget that there are professionals, who need to be paid, dedicating time just to analyze the cleanliness of certain water sources. And like you mentioned, even public water isn't exactly free. You may not directly pay for it, but there's still money being invested.

My dad mentioned the fluoride thing to me a few weeks ago :whatb: Is it true that in some places, the tap water is clean enough to drink? Out of curiosity, since here where I live I don't think that happens.
