Artists posted random things, replying fans' posts, to watch their contents, etc. You can choose which artist you want to follow.
At first it's only for Bighit, then Hybe, now a lot of idols and western artists also join in this app. The best thing is... it's free.

Lol I actually only know weverse because of BTS. Was here when they transitioned from Vlive (well, mostly). It's a fun platform where artists and fans can post and interact. Other content such as variety shows, concerts, MVs etc are also posted there and almost everything is free.
An irl recently became a kpop fan and I realized that apparently for the other platforms, fans have to pay to become a member and leave posts or get to see posts from their faves. And they have to pay monthly too, per artist. So if for a group you stan like all 5 members, then you have to pay to be updated for all 5 members (and what more for multis lol). I guess with this setup, the artists would also be somehow obligated to post on there knowing the fans are paying to see/read them? Interesting.

weverse - free. i know artists personally reply their stuff there.
bubble - not free. if bubble is like a chat, do idols personally reply there? i haven't used it for twice tbh.
Yes they can choose to reply if they want. I know some of them do, but I'd have to dig around on Twitter to find out who does it. You also get more characters to reply the longer you're subscribed to them.
Universe is the only one I haven't personally tried (because it's not compatible with my phone and I hear it's fucking terrible), but from screenshots I've seen their artist communication is similar to Bubble where it appears as a conversation. They also feature exclusive variety content with the groups that use their service. You can find previews/first episodes of those on their YouTube channel. They also have exclusive music videos for their platform.
Honestly imo none of them are really worth the space they take up on your phone. The translations are run through Google and are usually pretty bad at best and wildly inaccurate at worst.

and i'm thankful for that, if they were accurate we wouldn't get iconic posts such as this
what? i didn't know you have to pay for the content. i'd never pay for it but if fans are willing to pay why change it.

Ah ok so in other words each company made their own version of Vapp
