At what point do you decide to delete someone from your contacts?

I remember deleting one contact because one of my friends became toxic in many ways so I had to stop because there were times when she was really rude to me, my family, and new friends despite us being best friends throughout our elementary and middle school days...she became different once we hit high school...

If your "friend" doesn't even try to initiate the conversation or keeps making excuses, drop them.

I usually delete contacts from people from work after about a year. Also to delete someones contact doesn't mean cutting ties with someone for me. There are some numbers I deleted but if these people would reach out to me, I would still reply. We are adults and busy, so not talking/writing to each other for a while is no reason to be upset for me. I only cut ties with people that really pissed me of. And it also has to be something I know either no conversation can help or is just so upsetting that I can't get over it. Had a school friend that suddenly dropped me as friend because she would always have to start a chat conversation with me. So basically she told me she wouldn't "need" me anymore because she had to open a window and had "better friends". Found out a year later that she initiated the biggest fight I had with my boyfriend soon after that in hopes of seperating us because she was interested in him and that this propably was the real reason she ended our friendship.

I don't delete contacts and anything from chats.
edit: just stop talking/iniciating a conversation with the person. in few weeks the friendship is completely over.
source: personal experience plenty of times.
