Asking akp culture experts: what do you think of Yuqi's outfit here?

I feel like i've seen that look in Western Chinese provinces. I grew up watching a shit ton of documentaries, but my memory is shot these days, so i cant be sure.

I'm definitely not an expert on cultures so if anyone has any info that corrects me, please tell me

I feel like at the least there is inspiration from Native American clothes, the leather-ish type cloth, and the patterns on the sleeves and the purse also scream Native American. I'm not one of those people who cares about 'cultural appropriation', I think she looks cute, but I think the stylists was definitely going after a certain look

I think that in threads like this you should have the balls to start this "debate" with your own thoughts instead of trying to frame an idol and being indirectly shade.

Say what you think first so people can follow or not your "idea".

She looks great. Pretty sure I already saw this kind of traditional outfit in a HK movie. China is so culturally rich, so diverse! Who knows how many different traditional outfits and stylings there is. Definitely a lot!

I was fine with the skirt since it’s a look i’ve seen before in woman’s clothing, but the top and earring makes it come off VERY costumey and i think that’s when you cross the line from tasteful to CA, but i don’t care that much, just looks like a bad outfit and i’d say whoever put it together for her has really bad taste/judgement

Like it’s very clear, they were trying to fit her in a ethnic outfit/costume and not really trying for a fashion take that mixes the culture with fashion.
