Gee is the biggest though, for the longest time it was the only song non-kpop fans had heard of.

That's a trick question.... I think Gee was iconic in so many ways that it helped to spread kpop, but we have D4 that was an absolutely success ww that it also spread kpop even more....

But I will still go with Gee bc of it iconic existence and how much it played part in the kpop history.

Without Gee, there wouldn't even be a Twice or a Blackpink - so the question has a forced answer!

I got into Kpop starting 3rd generation with Twice, Gfriend, Red Velvet, BlackPink, but back then before i even knew that kpop existed i heard both Gee and Abracadabra but i didn't become a fan of Kpop back then but i still think Gee was pretty big because i saw people talking about it before i even knew Kpop

Undeniably Gee. Not only was it the biggest song of its year and decade, it's affects were still felt years after its release. Was regularly played on shows, lots of people covered it, it was a gateway song, hallyu etc

So you're saying people couldn't possibly have been into kpop 10 or more years ago to wirness Gee or its effects? A lot of people got into kpop years ago because of Gee and kpop itself expanded heavily international becaus of it. Hell many people's current faves still cover a 12 year old song, it must be pretty significant.

You more or less brushed aside the very notion that no one couldve been possibly ever been into kpop back then because it's too much of crazy thought even though it was the time kpop was expanding worldwide and bringing in a ton of new ifans.

The fact that it's the most mentioned song with various reasons given in this thread and currently leading shows unlike what you think people do in fact know about its impact regardless of its age. SNSD is still pretty popular among kpop fans despite being an 14 yo group and being inactive for the last 4 years, surely majority of these fans were into kpop years ago and thus would would know of their biggest hits such as Gee. Like I earlier said Gee was one of the biggest songs ever in kpop, doesn't matter how long ago, it was THAT big and influential to the point you can see it's direct consequences today, same way you can see SNSD influences today.
