Why did Produce48 made Japanese trainees look like they are bad at dance?

  • When they can pull off things like this? This shit seems x10 crazier than KPOP dances

  • It's definitely crazier, is it better? I beg to differ.

I've seen quite a number of AKB48 and other *48 group performances, but I always found E-Girls a lot better when it comes to dancing.

I understand that the *46 groups are also better than the *48 batch, but I haven't watched a lot of those.

It's also not that odd: where Korean trainees often have had like 2-5 years of training before finally debuting, the 48G groups debut straight away, because of their different approach to idoldom, where it's more about the journey towards getting skilled and their progress from nothing to getting popular gets being shown to the public.

  • It's been several years since Produce48, standards have risen. AKB48 idols were genuinely bad at dance at the time and you can see it in the performances because the camera shots are just straight. One MV doesn't establish anything.

Here, I think you're getting confused by camera angles and cuts. They're not in sync..which is not necessarily a bad thing. They just look more wild which might be fitting with the song? In fact, the slo-mo clips you post don't make them look good. There is a time and place for being mildly out-of-sync but it doesn't look intentional here.

Someone else in the old forum posted 2020 clips of former Produce48 AKB48 contestants. To my eyes, they looked like they regressed badly.

That said, people have different things they care about in dance. Let's just say we have different standards.

  • the thing is that akb48 isnt trained to be perfect at dancing. the idols in produce 48 had at least 1 or 2 years of dedicated dance training. and akb48 idol either comes in as a dancer or is left to train by themselves. akb48 doesnt focus on dance or music but the whole experience, and since they have weekly performances in their home theatre the dances cant be too exhausting.

even with all those constraints they have masterpieces like uza, no way man and bokutachi wa tatakawanai

but for the real akb48 experience i much prefer oogoe diamond, heavy rotation, koisuru fortune cookie and aitakatta
