LOTR because is still greatest Fantasy trilogy of all time and nothing came even close to it. It have everything good world Building, Characters with heart and scale
I like both.
I definitely read HP with a lot more passion (finished the series in 2 weeks when i was 12, then reread it like three times in different languages after lol), but LOTR is really a fantasy masterpiece and it gave life to so many of the tropes we see in the genre all the time these days. The books did drag a bit to 14 year old me, but i felt very satisfied when i had finished the whole series.
It's hard to pick one to be honest, and since i read both in my early teens and they're both two series of books that made me love fantasy it feels like choosing your fave pet. HP has really stayed with me and i still reread parts of it occasionally while i have only ever read LOTR once so idk.
I think Harry Potter is more a generational thing.
LOTR definiately no questions asked
it has friendship
action
fighting
fan-bloody-tastic music
great scenery - seriously does the movie not make you want to go visit ripia New Zealand
acting is superb directing is top notch
CGI/graphics is excellent...
great movie that I've finally managed to convince my wife to watch with me and we've finished two movies so far lol
LOTR all the way.
It has a way to make you escape your real life to fantasy with a magical setting.
LOTR! I have read the books and watched movies so many times... well I did the same with Harry Potter but LOTR and the world around it is superior!
I LOVE both but tbh honest I have rewatched LOTR movies too many times not to choose it. But HP is a better read IMO. I mean all the battle scenes for LOTR is just *chefs kiss*
Never interested to watch LOTR. Because I'm not a fan of fantasy movies. While HP is my childhood movie. Encourage me to watch it
LOTR makes me feel things
I liked both but I didn’t mind Harry Potter. My favourite was The Chamber of Secrets. It’s interesting to see how the actors have matured. They’re nice looking people.
Lotr.
I only had a LOTR phase due to kids at my school having all this merch and whatnot. That was back when I was a kid, though. Kids just did whatever the cool, popular thing was.
I'll have to go with Harry Potter. Both the films and the books, but more so the films, had an impact on me. Wrote my first fan letters to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson and actually received something in return. Those days were special. It was just very cozy watching the films and anticipating new releases.
It depends if you talk about movies or books for me. For movies LOTR are masterpiece. For books I was more immersed and involved in HP. And I still reread HP books like every years and I have the whole books series in 3 differents versions...
Ooh this is a tough one.
I can't pick one tbh.
LOTR extended editions are some of the best movies made ever.
HP series is perhaps the most iconic and known series too.
I'd pick both.
I will say this,
Half Blood Prince's movie adaptation was NEXT LEVEL disappointing. Like, much of Voldemort's past storyline was cut. Didn't like that one at all.
I prefer LOTR as a story and i prefer the characters but imo Harry Potter movies were better visually (even if you consider when they were made).
