No, TXT did not sell a shit ton at debut. It was simply good for a rookie debut.
I've seen this going around on the forums and on Twitter for a while, so I wanted to shed some light.
TXT's debut album, TDC: STAR, sold 145,098 in March of 2019. That was good for a rookie, 2 years ago.
Since then, I can count 5 other groups that surpassed 145k with their respective debut albums.
Over time, STAR has just kept selling. It's actually been charting in the top 100 of the weekly album chart since it came out (that's 105 weeks).
As of March 2021's update, it has 278,846 sales on Gaon. That's an increase of 133, 748 copies.
TXT's debut had plenty of hype surrounding it, for sure. But back catalogue sales like these (especially since it has 1 version) show that TXT is developing an ever-growing fanbase who stays around for their music and other content.
