  • "Science" in general can be trusted I would say, but I think politics try to stop some info from being released. For example the fact that people from certain nations have lower IQ in general, specially those in less progressed countries, is kinda offensive. Or that the COVID-19 virus was probably invented in a lab with certain intensions by Chinese scientists, but their government has bribed WHO to deny that because it will end up ugly for Asians.

  • The scientific method itself can be trusted. It tries to be as objective as possible by relying on verifiable facts and data, not on opinions nor on unverifiable claims.

But what can't be trusted is the use people make of it. Science can be manipulated and cherry-picked for self-benefit. That's why science relies heavily on peer-review and consensus.

Among the cited the topics I would say religion and faith. There's no data to gather here. Without data Science can't do anything.

  • Politics have taken some Sciences Hostage. Compromising Scientists using social and financial pressures. To change the scientific method to an endorsement by scientists who fear retribution for not supporting a Political agenda. For example UK Medical Doctors forced to treat Self Genderization as Physical Fact.

Paranormal experiences usually have a scientific explanation. Don’t trust your brain. Trust science. Your brain plays tricks on you and there’s no shame in admitting that; it happens to all of us at some point.

Science itself is never untrustworthy. People and institutions who use science to profit at the expense of others are untrustworthy.

  • The problem isn't science per se. It is the best thing we got so far to explain reality.

However, the problem lies more on the scientist or institution using "science" in other to further his or her own agenda. Scientists are human after all with all the baggage of flaws and self-interest.

Also, people in general and the media will distort or interpret scientific news for their own interest.

Never trust scientific news from regular newspapers. They usually make a mess and report it wrongly. It's better to look for popular science publications or for the article itself.
