It seems like Chinese fans are not as “loyal” as people may suspect

    Because as soon as you get associated, at the bare minimum, in any politic statement associated with the mainland China issue you’ll be paying some consequences


    Now chinese fans are apparently boycotting RBW by not supporting Wheein’s upcoming release

    Did her China bar claim how many copies they were going to buy and then dropped the ball after RBW's statement?


    If not maybe she is just not that popular.

    You give too much importance to this country, they are 1.5 billion, the purchases they make are ridiculous even if they buy 1 million album it represents only a tiny minority of the Chinese population.


    The companies had better to focus on the Japanese, Southeast Asian and South American markets rather than wasting their time with China and the US who forcing their silly policies on them.

    Nope not at all its all the companies fault.


    To make a very long story short, RBW sent trainees to the Chinese version of an audition show, basically Chinese produce. Another company called Avex who also sent trainees made a post saying they were planning some concerts, but mentioned Taiwan as another country which is against the 1 China policy.


    But then in the midst of Avex being dragged, some dumb dumb at RBW made a post on using the company social media saying the company adheres to the 1 China policy, which angered just about everybody apart from the Chinese Moos. And I do mean everybody, they managed to make the girls loose fans in China, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and more in a single night. There were all kinds of articles written about it using the girls pictures as thumbnails so they took all the backlash and had Koreans calling them traitors. Remember there is still all the heat between China and Korea since China is trying to claim things from Korean history as their own including Kimchi and Hanboks and China is trying to claim basically all of SEA as Chinese one country at a time and everyone in SEA knows it.


    There was a whole lot of speculation since it didn't sound like the normal company language that it was hacked (there has been a lot of that going on apparently). In the end RBW deleted it and clarified that it was made without thier consent then apologised.


    But this angered the Chinese fans, because they all believe the 1 China policy and now the company is denying something they were raised to believe in. So they decided they would no longer support the girls in financial ways that would also benefit the company (basically not wanting to bank roll a company that did not support their beliefs and fully went against them), so no buying albums etc but they said they would still support the girls in other ways like watching content and streaming.


    So yeah, they screwed the girls over pretty well. They messed up MMM's image with the GP just as it recovered due to queendom so now people are predicting the GP will boycott both Wheein's solo and the next group CB. And considering how much they rely on the GP for charting and winning shows etc, that is a major blow. And sales are expected to be at least 50-80% lower due to the lost fans and boycotts. Remember around half of Travel sales came from China.

    I don’t think their image is going to get affected domestically. I didn’t see any major buzz about it in korean outlets. They’ve survived worse than this. It’s just chinese fans being petty and blowing this out of proportions
