I don't understand why broadcast companies blur the face of ex-members of idol groups

Isn't it a question of these ex-idols not allowing their image to be used in medias anymore ?

Oh really? But them being in old perfs of the groups, do the broadcast companies need permission of the ex-members?

Not sure ? If their contract is broken, then maybe yes.
-
Probably because they haven't signed a release for their image use.

I didn't think it that way. That's a different approach you presented here.
But once in Radio Star, I think they blurred TOP's face when he had marijuana scandal so I think this decision is more of broadcast companies but I don't know for sure.

It may have to do with image rights. The ones competing have signed a term allowing mnet to show their faces, while the ex-members haven't.

Ah, maybe ! Honestly my answer was just the first thing that popped up in my head, but I don't actually know why it happens. I hope some people here are more knowledgeable, lol.

Then fans bashing these broadcast companies for blurring their idols' face are giving unreasonable hate.

I didn't know that, was watching Kingdom yesterday and timed comments were open so I saw fans cursing at Mnet for blurring out B.I, this clears that they were wrong to do since they had a valid reason.
The others are saying the same so I think you're right lol

That's too much if it was just for a marijuana scandal.
-
But what was it? Was it an MV? If it was an MV, YG should still have the image rights on the MV, so they wouldn't need BI's consent again as he already consented.
No, Mnet Kingdom, the competition that's going on between iKON, BTOB, Stray Kids, Ateez, The Boyz and SF9. It happened in that show when they were showing the groups' old perfs in short flashback.

That's too much if it was just for a marijuana scandal.
The first time I saw this happen was on Show Me the Money with Owen after his cannabis scandal. Mnet straight up said they were editing/blurring him out for the rest of the season bc of it. So honestly, I'm pretty certain that's the reason in this case.

They're seriously so strict over marijuana scandals, like I didn't see them blurring out idols who had DUI scandals.
