Display Morethe fuck is even that?
if they are already doing it and 50k people or more will be inside arena but they won't stream it? what kind of nonsense is that...
either postpone it totally
or
tone it down without fireworks, and any other fire effects during show, make 1 minute of silence, if there are artist who have ballads in their discography let them sing them on stage instead of 'fun' songs
looks like it's going to be live
I'm not gonna pretend I'm surprised.
Also, I'm not gonna pretend some people defending Mnet and HK gov, because many people say: "There's nothing to be done, it's said people died, lost their homes, but this is business, and HK gov spent 5 trillion for this etc".
Like I don't give a damn. People who traveled there should've got a refund, and the companies can survive, unlike people who, you know, died!
Like, I don't even understand how people defend this.
Hopefully they change songs last minute! Itโs awful timing!

And IF this is true, and Teddy won't change this, it's time to cancel his ass for good.
It's already messed up enough to throw a party in the neighborhood, and let Idols get the blame once again, but this is just crazy!
You can't make this shit up.
Reactions from Korean netizens have been mixed; while many argue that MAMA should be canceled in light of the serious fire, others suggest that the financial losses for overseas audience members in terms of flights and hotel bookings should be considered.

Okay, when they cancel a whole World Tour for some reason do they think about people who bought the tickets, booked hotels and flights? No, so they should stop to pretend as if they care about the audience.
They should have been sensitive to the situation and postponed it to a month later even if that meant losing some money.
Yeah something like this would be best, but the thing is it's impossible to do because groups have their own schedules, different shows, comebacks, world tours, same goes with the stadium itself being booked for different events. If we think just in a way naturally human thinks with emotions, then it's obvious it should be canceled/postponed. But all groups are already there, same with extras like dancers, hair and make up artists, stylists, award presenters, etc.
But we need to take everything into consideration, this isn't HK based company doing event, it's an overseas company. Even if you look at the announcement of broadcasts provider for the show. First one shows worldwide youtube, and MNet Plus, then there is info for Korea MNet, tvN Show, TVING, etc., then Japan is listed next with their channels and MNet Japan. And just then HK is grouped with a big long list of countries.
Usually also it's city council, some sponsor based in country, or the gov itself which wants to bring such show like MAMA to their place. So HK either already paid or will need to pay huge amount for that. And no wonder because foreign fans, including Korean ones are travelling to HK to see their idols.
Okay, when they cancel a whole World Tour for some reason do they think about people who bought the tickets, booked hotels and flights? No, so they should stop to pretend as if they care about the audience.
That's a great point because this is a ll a money move. There's been so many kpop concerts and events cancelled due to ticket sales or other circumstances. So many fans lose money for that because you can't just unbook hotel and flight tickets especially with the short notice they give fans. This whole event is making the industry look funny because it just shows they're insensitive and money hungry. Plus, elephant in the room this would indeed be cancelled or postponed if it happened in Korea
Since when respect can be bought with money? That financial loses for a multi million company and some rich idols are in the same conversation with dead people is peak capitalism.
Display More2025 MAMA Awards red carpet is cancelled; discussions underway for a pre-recorded broadcast
Following the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the 2025 MAMA Awards ceremony will adopt a more solemn tone to honor the victims. The organizers have confirmed that renowned actors Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng and Chow Yun-fat will attend the event, despite earlier speculation regarding their potential withdrawal from participation.
MAMA, one of the most anticipated events in K-pop, is set to return to Hong Kong after seven years. Following an emergency meeting held by officials, it has been confirmed that the awards ceremony will proceed as scheduled from November 28 to 29.
The organizing team has discussed modifying the awards show to focus on โoffering comfort and mourning for the fire victimsโ.
Sources initially indicate that the attendance of Yeoh and Chow, who were set to be award presenters, is uncertain. However, the organizer confirmed with Sing Tao Daily -- the sister publication of The Standard -- that Yeoh and Chow will be there in the event.
To maintain sensitivity, the ceremony will feature adjusted stage designs and performance procedures. Notably, flame effects and large-scale special effects will be canceled from the performances.
Additionally, the red carpet event scheduled for tomorrow will be canceled, and a moment of silence will be added at the opening of the show.
Although the show will be recorded as planned, it will air at a later date.
It is also reported that girl group MEOVVโs performance of โBurning Upโ may also be canceled due to concerns regarding the songโs lyrics.

Depending on how the reactions are mixed, we can expect a lot of trolling, nitpicking and "scandals"
K*reaboo and P*anchoa will have a lot to cover
That's really disappointing, also considering what happened with W Korea recently. Seems more and more like the industry is all about the money, with no decency...
In my country if there was a big tragedy, any entertainment events would be cancelled and there would be some days of national mourning. I don't know much about who organises MAMA but if it's organised by SK, they should respect what's happening in Hong Kong. Postponing it would of course cost money, but it's the decent thing to do.

Everythingโs being tone down and everyone will pay respect to whatโs happened!
Also apparently Hong Kong still wants it to go ahead too!l as cancelling will bring a massive financial disadvantage for the country too ![]()
I know idols/ groups have also donated.
