That's absolutely terrifying and a huge tragedy. May they rest in peace and my condolences to their families.
I think how it started is less important than how it was allowed to spread. Bamboo scaffolding is certainly a choice.

I'm not sure what's happening because i haven't followed the news but it's maybe materials that were being used? I remember that fire in greenfell tower in london rapidly spread due to flammable aluminium that covered the building. Horrible.

Right, although legally, there should have been at least 60 minutes fire separation between floors. The same is likely true in Hong Kong.

Corruption kills people. I don't want to make this about me but last year on nov 1 a canopy on the railway station collapsed killing 16 people. It was renovated by the government. We've had protests since then. Nobody got punished. Human life really worths nothing...
If regulations were met people would still be alive. But nobody is checking if they are.
RIP to the victims and firefighter that died. I cried just watching the news with victims talking about their missing family members.
Condolences to the family and friends too. While the exact cause isn’t confirmed yet police did arrest some men tied to some renovation link to the bamboo scaffoldings used etc.

Maybe it's just me but i'm very unsure if they should continue due to the circumstance. It's a difficult sitaution, but it just doesn't feel right to me imo
I heard it's hosted by hongkong tourism board. And Hong Kong side been promoting it and even provided 100k people including foreigner visiting hongkong.
The been promoting this event to promote the venue.
So canceling it is more on the hk side than the kr side ?
Americans would cancel it, i think that we would do. I already mentioned nov 1; some owners of wedding venues postponed wedding celebrations on this year's anniversary, they didn't care if was planned before the tragedy. Some owners decided to go with it. So it can go both ways.

Agree. Maybe they should record it and air it later. That way people who paid for tickets and/or accomodations won't waste their money. The only issue would be winners info leaking but it's better than to hold celebrations while other people are grieving.
