Does it feel like YG are sabotaging Baby Monster to anyone else?

  • I know it’s a premature to say but their teasers for the comeback so far have been bad and rushed :?: considering BM had a good year last year and have shown growth with their fandom and charting I’m actually surprised it took them this long to come back :!:

I know teasers doesn’t relate to the quality of music so they can release a bop! But it feels like YG’s been lazy or inconsistent with BM

  • Not sabotage, but, I do have to admit they seem to be put on the wayside a bit for the next upcoming girl group -- who is probably going to debut in the next few years, I'd assume.

    But, I'm just wildly speculating.

  • they realized they can't manage bm the same way they did bp and make real profit, so now they are operating as a mid tier group with focus on concentrated fandom earnings over mass public appeal

  • Actually, Babymonster released a japanese OST last May! What happened? The company and the members did not even post anything to promote it. No dance challenges or whatsoever.

Next, Hot Sauce would be released today! The last comeback from YG was last February from Treasure. That’s four months without a comeback from the company. All that money and budget went to the cheap and ugly teasers (and MV as well).

I even think Blackpink’s comeback and concert isn’t hyped that much. Or I expected better.

  • It’s not sabotage but pure incompetence. YG without Teddy is just a bad company without good music.

YG needed money and rushed Babymonster on tour. So instead of spending time building fanbase and releasing music, they are on tour making money. Short term profit over long term health. YG is treating BM like a touring machine who will flame out in 3 years.

If the releases were well marketed, on time and good musically, it could be fine. But this is YG - who fumbled the Blackpink tour despite 3 years to prepare it. YG can barely handle 1 group which is BM. Treasure and Blackpink have not been managed well at all. And YG is too busy ogling his Next Monster trainees to care about BM anymore. So everything in YG is a mess right now.

  • You guys gotta CHILL

This is just a prerelease to their upcoming album.

Moreover, the song and theme is obviously inspired by seoltaji and the boys. The sound is gonna be retro old kpop sound.

Im not sure why some of you are expecting a big budget comeback when their main vocal - Rami is still on hiatus. They are obviously releasing this single to keep the momentum and hype. But this is not the grand comeback you all looking for

On top of that, BM are going to perform on inkigayo for this. It is a very typical kpop promotional schedule without heavy teasing on album since it is just a digital single. Them still on tour is not helping the situation also

  • It’s just a fun single, not a full-length comeback. Companies don’t go all out for things like this, so it’s expected.

They’ve been doing nonstop touring and promoting all over the world. At some point, it’s gonna turn into “overworked” territory if you want them doing even more. Some of their members already got sick recently and had to sit out for some of the tour.

  • YG has this weird habit of losing faith in their groups, they debuted iKon right after Winner and then sent them to Japan after one mediocre comeback. I still remember how they started mixnine when ioi/twice outshined BP during their debut era. I think they've lost trust in BM and are planing a new GG which is going to be more similar to BP.

They may aswell just created a two-tiers. Seven members, or more, groups are for revenue, whilst four-to-five member groups are there to compte with the major groups of similar members. Essentially, one tier competes against likes of Enhypen and H2H; another competes against the likes of TXT and KIOF (going by numbers, not popularity, when stating groups).
