People don't want to talk about it because: 11
The result is only visible to the participants.
We all agree on that, but as soon as we start mentioning someone, people automatically deny it.

And why people are so obsess with idol PS ?
Would you like if hundreds of people would be obsessing about talking about your weight or face ?
Some of you would be the first people to attack people who comment about the face of someone or their body calling them body shammer or bully
And then you are the first one to be obsess about who did or not PS and judging how successfull they are
If some of you want to play the social justicer fighting against bullying and body shaming then stay on brand
I don’t think it would be such a taboo topic if it didn’t come with body shaming and insult. Yeah, I know celebrities love to claim they’re natural, but honestly can you really blame them when the media treats any slight change or sign of aging in their face like it’s some kind of disease?
And when it comes to fans, like I said, any talk about plastic surgery quickly turns from concerns and valid criticism into straight-up insults. Kpop fans are way too immature to have a real conversation about this without using it as fuel for fanwars.
So honestly, I’d rather it stay as a taboo topic in Kpop community. At least that way, idols might be spared from even more pressure and insecurity than they already deal with. Seeing this kind of plastic surgery discussion become a norm just ends up doing more harm than good.
plastic surgery quickly turns from concerns and valid criticism
Valid criticism talking about the physic of someone doesn't exist
Cuz how your critic can be valid when you are not in this person body and you're just projecting your standard of beauty on someone who have probably different standard of beauty and treating your standard as more "valid" than theirs
it’s usually harmless juice tbh
Please i never saw any PS discussion being harmless and everybody knows it cuz behind this discussion the meaning of people creating this discussion is to say " look this person is ugly cuz she's fake"
" Look this person is more pretty than the other one in reality because she's natural"
Like i said there's never harmless or valid discussion about PS cuz these types of discussion are always only make to downgrade somebody visual or use to hype up someone to the expense of somebody else
I don't consider it taboo. It's big in South Korea. It's stranger not to talk about it, especially when visuals is a huge part of K-pop.
I think it's two very different discussion
Ofc visual is a big part of kpop so ofc we can talk about visual and say " i like this person visual"
But visual in kpop can be talked without having to mention PS cuz it's only use to downgrade and bully ppl when 99% of the comment are " i like this person cuz she's natural"
" I don't like this person cuz she did ps and she looks fake"
Weight is also important in kpop but weirdly when someone say " i don't find this idol pretty cuz she's fat " it's problematic
When it's just discussing visual
It’s not taboo, people just love using PS as a drag and face shame idols.
Like 99.9% of idols have smth done, but people will still go and attack other group for being “plastic”, “botched” and etc., while their favourite idols have some work done too.
There is nothing wrong with PS, after all SK - is capital of plastic surgery, and it is deeply embedded in Korean culture and beauty standards. But it is just the way people find a way to drag idols using PS under every single post, which turns off many people from having genuine discussion about this topic.
Because people can't be civilized on either side
First, you need to understand what valid criticism actually is. It's a legitimate objection or flaw in a theory, argument, or concept that’s supported by logical reasoning and evidence. Even though it has the word “criticism” in it, it’s not inherently negative.
We have shows like 600-lb Life that have actually helped save lives and completely changed participants' perspectives. Obsession is real, and sometimes you need someone to point it out for you. I've been there, so I know exactly how it feels. It hurts because you feel like people judge you face and body when in fact it's a very valid criticism despite despite how hard for me to accept the truth. But if no one had pointed out how my body is ridiculously skinny and how bizarre my relationship with food is, directly in front of me, how else would I have realized it wasn’t healthy? I'm sick and have body dysmorphia. Those people didn't projecting their beauty standard on me, they just trying to make me realise that something wrong with me and my physical condition is a sign of it.
That said, in this case, Kpop fans shouldn’t be the ones doing it as I clearly said in my first comment. I’d rather it stay a taboo topic because I understand, the toxicity of the industry.
everybody is free to get PS and to discuss whether others have gotten PS
people who have gotten PS do not have any obligation to disclose whether they have PS or not HOWEVER if they do choose to comment on it and later get caught out in a lie (ie they claim they didn't get PS but later turns out they did) then the issue is the lie not the PS per se
with respect to idols and PS it is just another means to start fanwars
Like i said there's never harmless or valid discussion about PS cuz these types of discussion are always only make to downgrade somebody visual or use to hype up someone to the expense of somebody else
People are already downgrade someone’s visual with their “best visual” threads.
Maybe we should start ranking the top clinics first, at least it’d make us seem a bit sincere
Like, who takes these top visuals seriously. Fans just do it for fun
PS should never be normal for Kpop Idols because most debut under 18 years of age.
There are some ugly c*nts that fix their face but they are abnormal
Plastic surgery in K-pop is a taboo topic largely due to the industry's intense focus on perfection, image management, and fan expectations.
According to Wikipedia, discussions around idols' surgeries can lead to public scrutiny, harm reputations, and diminish the "natural talent" narrative fans admire.
Agencies often avoid addressing it to maintain a flawless image and protect idols from cyberbullying or career damage.
The silence reinforces unrealistic beauty standards, especially for younger audiences.
In contrast, a foodmenu embraces variety and authenticity, celebrating uniqueness rather than conformity.
