Will KPOP ever have another girl group with 9+ members?

    never say never but it will be unlikely outside of survival shows maybe???


    a lof of times it comes down to a financial decision


    more members means more costs - food, clothing, makeup, transportation, accommodation etc etc


    also more members is also detrimental to the group and the members themselves - more members mean less opportunity for any individual to shine and if one individual does shine it means even less opportunities for the other members. Also more members mean less $$$ (assuming ceteris paribus a 10 member group will have to earn double what a 5 member group to make the same amout of money per member)

    Even survival shows nowadays don’t have big lineups :/

    I remember there being an interesting article back in the day about the rise of HD TV’s allowing for the massive girl groups like SNSD. I wonder now if it’s the domination of the smart phone and vertical videos for shorts which is why we’re back to around 4-5 members again.


    Difficult to fit more than 5 members in a Tik-Tok video.

    Oh that’s an interesting perspective. That’s the first time i’ve heard about something like that.

    SM came close with 8 members in H2H

    they were just shy of 1 member to hit that 9 mark

    which btw still is amazing that 8 young women got a chance to debut in such big agency

    because if you look back then RV debut line up had 4 members and aespa also had 4. So it's doubled for H2H, thank God!



    The problem I'm noticing is that even small, and mid agencies are downsizing altought thanks to that we got groups like Rescene, Odd Youth and ifeye which are pretty interesting ones.



    I think that from big agencies only JYP and HYBE can give us 9 or more member gg. For first one will be comeback to times when they've debuted TWICE, and then NiziU, both of those group have 9 members.

    And as for HYBE they are circling around that 5-6 members in group, which at one point for sure will be broken so they will either go down to 4 or will boost that number higher.


    But it will be harder to get another IZ*ONE or IOI, hard to believe that there will be survival show these days granting so many debut spots. Because even if you look at UNIS they are from survival show and there are 8 members.


    And even for izna the debut line-up was supposed to be 5 but mentors/judges were supposed to surprise fans with one more pick, just to later on during show surprise even more with adding not just one but two members.

    zb1 and boys planet 2 should really have added like 11-12 people in their debut lineup similar to wannaone or zb1, even kep1er debuted with 9 which i thought was literally less since ioi and izone are 11 and 12 respectively


    i mean yeah large group means not all members would be famous but mnet survival show groups are almost always confirmed to be well known individually. seems greedy to me that theyre also downsizing lol especially since bp2 planned to debut only 8 people ( which im sure they'll debut 9 with another extra person being a 'surprise' moment )
