That's their loss though. There is obviously way more money and more fame to be had if they conquer the US music market, it's like 20x the size of Korea's. But when it comes to overall musicality of mainstream pop, Kpop still shits all over local pop. While Kpop song trends have unfortunately followed the West (like they always do), which means shorter, generic basic songs generated by computers with zero creativity, at least Kpop has the visual/performance aspect to hang their hat on.

Unlike vocals, which are all faked these days, you cant fake stage presence, choreo, and dance.

So go forth, Pinks. Go forth and reach the highest peaks you can. Just know that you will NEVER reach the pinnacle that was Boombaya, Playing with Fire, and As If Its Your Last. Just look at their trash solo releases to date and you can already predict this.

So here's what I think :

Even if the members have very successful solo careers, it was only because of blackpink and kpop. They wouldn't have obsessive and very dedicated fans if it wasn't for kpop. Those same fans are the ones who keep their solo careers going.

Nobody knows how long their solo success will last. The only think that is sure right now is the group. Blackpink is their safety net and the members know it. They need blackpink. So I wouldn't say they are over BP, or that they only do it just to please their fans.

They have more passion for their solo work I can tell lol…

every group that becomes hugely successful doesn't necessarily want to continue doing group activities as "kpop" in the long run especially GG

I've said it many times before of how many GG have all members renewing and how many still promote actively as a group post 30 and blah blah blah

It's natural for members of a group to want to do their own thing independent of the group whilst occasionally still doing group things once in a blue moon

The Blackpink members clearly do not care about the group anymore. I mean they will likely release a rushed single right before their world tour. So their world tour will have 1 new group song and probably member solos. YG and Blackpink themselves will just treat their loyal fans like money grabs once every few years. Cant even blame YG at this point. It works. The gils clearly value their solo work considerably more than the group. At this point Blackpink is just a name to get quick cash. wonder if the tour will even be that long at this point. Maybe just a few stadiums. Sad to see a group I loved from 2016-2018 fall to this. Basically a scam cash grab group.
