Songs/interviews/quotes from idols that deal with fame and an acknowledgement that it will eventually slip away?

  • A sort of self awareness about idol life and how the spotlight will not stay on them forever. I saw Sarah lynn (from bojack horseman), 2000's child stars and celebs who don't take the fact that fame will go away soon, too well. Looking at the circumstances and their surroundings I don't blame them. I'm looking for good examples of idols who acknowledge it and take it gracefully.

  • The first thing that came to my mind was this. Recently BTS appeared on the talk show and Suga said this. Many BTS members have talked about the topic previously since this is the recent one hence easier for me to find lol.

During the interview with Jin and Suga, host Yoo Jae Suk tells Suga about how they talked about something he had said that resonated with J-Hope.

"We talked about this earlier with the other members about ‘fear of falling but not of landing’.”

Suga revealed that although they were grateful for how far they’ve come, they still wonder if they deserve it.

"We have to be able to see the ground to some extent. When we see the ground on an airplane, we know that we are flying, but if you are in the clouds, it doesn’t feel like we are flying. Although we are truly honored and grateful, we sometimes wonder if coming this far was what we really wanted."

    — Suga

He expressed the pressure of receiving so much attention just for doing something that he loved.

"It’s too burdensome. All we did was do our job by working hard, but people take it as we have contributed to the country, making it too burdensome."

    — Suga

He felt that it was better to step down when they had the chance to instead of trying to stay in the spotlight.

"I’ve seen a lot of other artists that couldn’t perform at venues after their time in the spotlight faded away. Ever since I was young, I thought that it would be better to step down when you can instead of being blamed and mocked by people for it."

    — Suga

His wish is to continue to perform on stage for the fans, regardless of number or size.

"I hope to continue to perform on stage until the very end. I think that is the best way to come down from the spotlight. Even if the audience reduces from 50,000 to 2,000 people, it is our way of landing gracefully by performing for those people."

    — Suga

Suga concluded that because the fall was something that he had to endure with everyone, he was no longer afraid of the end.

I hope you read it all. I know it's alot but it gets deeper as you read more. Thank you.

  • I remember Lisa talking about this on their doc. Something like “ it’s ok to lose popularity or we know that we will lose it but at least we had our place and time in kpop history” not sure if it the exact words maybe blinks can help

I left my heart in LA again. Please continue taking good care of it.

  • The last paragraph is touching. There will be people who poke them for their dwindling fame and fandom size but by still wanting to perform he shows that he was in it for the music all along fame was just a by product of his actual goal.

It takes an iron will not to take what others say to heart. I hope he fly's like he is now and gracefully lands on his own terms.

I was not prepared for this T.T She's so pretty and wholesome. Jihyo is genuinely one of my fave celebrities when it comes to giving good advise and perspective both when it comes to herself and for others. I really hope she lives a fulfilling life at that age <3

That's a good mentality and a good clapback to have. Fame doesn't last forever but the mark they have made will.

Jihyo always has great messages like this at concerts. All of Twice do. They're so precious and touch my heart so much!

  • I saw BTS members speaking about it often, Tae once said," they were offered various ways to gain quick popularity in US, but they declined that and wanted to go up on their way slowly and steadily" and Yoongi has mentioned it multiple times that as long as they land softly they are fine as they know popularity wont last forever and he wishes to perform even if they went from 50K to 2000 audiences.

Fame is something Suga was never interested in. In fact most of the members have outwardly spoken about the fact they never wanted to be or to be seen as influential people.

And you are right. It takes a lot of courage to admit that
