To answer op question . I think first impressions are everything and Nmixx didn’t have a good one imo . Itzy had a good first impression which is why many thought they would be leaders of the 4th gen .

I think the major issue with JYPE is they don’t have the ear to select the right title tracks . The title tracks they choose usually doesn’t connect with the Korean audience to make songs chart in the top 10. JYPE groups seem to do well globally for the most part.

An important thing they need to work on is marketing . I can’t remember the last concept for any of their groups to make people interested in a comeback? Concepts wise they’re behind others and it seems strange because JYPE groups have great visuals but you still need concepts and markets to make people invest in a comeback

I agree that they should at least make it into the top 100 of the charts. Of course, the song itself matters, but for a group under one of Korea’s biggest companies to not chart is a major failure. I think the reason is partly due to the songs themselves, and partly because JYP isn’t as successful as SM or HYBE when it comes to media and communication strategies. at the same time, I’m starting to think that visuals might be even more important than we thought. In the case of nmixx, the girls are of course beautiful, but none of them made a splash like Karina or Winter did at their debut.

Mainly I think the problem is that if a group want to stay in the spotlight for many years they really need to be a top group or constantly many good songs. Groups like Twice and Blackpink can go on for a couple of years even with pretty average songs just because they once was the nr 1 or nr 2. Groups like ITZY that never got a top status can't afford that and people don't really pay much intrest to them after a couple of years with few good songs.

And JYP have not had that many girls group either to compare with before Twice. Wonder Girls and Miss A mainly. Wonder Girls of cource was huge in the early years, Miss A sure, but they did not had that many big hits I think and did not do that many songs.

But yeah, it's a bit strange JYP have not done more to provide their groups with good songs.

In the case of nmixx I think they just had too many stinkers to begin with and now cannot recover. They simply lack consistency. Like we saw in BABYMONSTER's pre-debut era, they were unable to reach top 100 as well but they redeemed themselves with Sheesh and now Drip. Plus they have future IT girl Ahyeon and nmixx does not. Although See That did pretty well iirc.

I blame moments like this for the JYP downfall
