Dreamcatcher Acitivty Announcement- Gahyun, Handong and Dami leave Dreamcatcher Compacy

Nooooooooo because I didn’t get to see them in-person yet and they were great as OT7. One of my fav KPOP GG with great discography too.

But I do understand it has been 8 years and sometimes things change. I saw that Gahyun said she wanted to go into acting - so I will look forward to her dramas in the future. Handong and Dami - I will see what they say but am I correct that others will remain as Dreamcatcher??

Unfortunately this is the beginning of the end. With announcements like these we will probably see one last comeback and then nothing. Hopefully not.

The wording is confusing. Obviously they're leaving the company, but I can't tell if those three are still in the group or not. This isn't a good sign either way. Frankly it's a miracle they've even lasted this long.

Edit: Gahyun is making it sound like she's leaving the group, making the company's statement even more confusing.

It seems like the others are not entirely sure what they want to do yet, but that is likely a death knell, especially for a small group like Dreamcatcher, hence why the remaining members are switching to other plans such as subunits.

Hello, this is Dreamcatcher Handong. As mentioned in the announcement, my contract with Dreamcatcher Company has officially expired. I have been thinking about renewing my contract for a long time and have had enough discussions with the members, and have decided not to renew my contract.
They say that everyone has to go through a breakup at some point. I remember when I shared my dreams with the members in the beginning of our debut. We started out with great expectations for the future. Although we have not renewed our contracts because we all have new thoughts about our futures, our hearts have not changed. In addition, we have received more gratitude and blessings than we expected!
The people I am most thankful for are Insomnia, who have always been by our side since our beginning.

From our debut until now, we have received many Insomnia members and have made precious memories with lovely Insomnias all over the world. Because of Insomnia, I have been able to feel love and, above all, I think I have learned how to love. I sincerely thank you for being with me in my 20s and making this time even brighter.
And I would like to express my gratitude to my 6 lovely unnies and dongsaengs. Thanks to the members, I spent a warm 9 years in Korea. Despite having to say goodbye to my family for a long time, I was able to share a lot of family love thanks to the members. We are also very grateful to all the staff at Dreamcatcher Company who always do their best to protect and consider us and respect our choices.
The beautiful memories are still vivid to me. When I listen to Dreamcatcher's songs or look at photos, memories of those moments come flooding back to my mind. The early mornings when we stayed together for pre-recordings, our first win, Insomnia's music that congratulated us and gave us people every birthday, when I go to radio shows, the excitement and thrill every time we had a concert, and the beautiful scenery that unfolded on tour are all vividly drawn before my eyes. I will keep these memories in the warmest and deepest place in my heart, and these thoughts will be the most precious and powerful when I start my future journey.
Lastly, I thank you for the past days and bless the future. I look forward to the day when we all meet again in a brighter future!

Hello, this is Dreamcatcher Dami. The weather has been getting warmer and spring is coming. How are our Somnias doing these days? I thought I would write something even though my speaking skills are lacking because of the sudden news. From my innocent high school days to now, when I am looking at the end of my 20s, It has already been 12 years since I have been with Dreamcatcher Company. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Dreamcatcher Company family who believed in me and were with me during the past time, even though I was lacking.

After much thought and consideration, I have decided that it will not be an easy challenge, but now I will leave the solid land and begin a new voyage. Sometimes it's hard and tiring, but I will work hard to show somnias the best I can as a compass and ivory, so I would appreciate it if you could watch over me with warm eyes. My 12-year relationship with Dreamcatcher Company has come to an end, but as a member of Dreamcatcher, Dami will always be with you. Please take good care of Dreamcatcher Dami and solo Dami who has started a new challenge.

I will never forget that I exist because of my Somnia fans, and I will always be grateful that my Somnia fans are by my side, and I will become a Dagi who will grow further using all the happy memories we made together as a driving force.

I am embarrassed and awkward to express it well, but I always feel great happiness thanks to our Somnias, who are always with me. I will work hard to become a proud singer for my Somnias, who always show me excessive affection with overflowing love.

I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but basically the most talented ones remained. Like they could go whole Mamamoo with this lineup.

Handong's unique voice will be missed but lack of Dami's rapping is somehow a win, no shade intended.

Edit: another thing is that sans Yoohyeon this is basically maknae line. Again, not sure if this is a coincidence or not but Dreamcatcher were well known for their strict age hierarchy.

Edit2: while Gahyeon clearly mentioned wanting to go into acting, Handong and Dami's letters mentioned no plans at all. I assume Handong will return to China, and try to launch a career there, her letter clearly reads as goodbye not just to fans and Dreamcatcher but to Korea. as for Dami, I have no idea.

It is just a generic shit most disbanding groups say. The good thing is(I guess) the leaving members weren't essential when it comes to their songs. Remaining 4 members are basically 2 main and 2 sub vocalists. Handong and Gahyeon had little lines to being with. As for Dami, she was the "main rapper" but it was a filler position as is the case for many groups, she wasn't a natural rapper per se and Sua and Jiu can take over that role.

Dami is one of the best idol rappers. and she is the person that got me into the group. Her voice is so unique and she commands your attention

Did you even read the letter? Siyeon is not part of unit. Yoohyeon, Jiu and Sua will continue as unit while Siyeon will do some band activities.

Dami rap and very raspy voice was a very good fit for the rap section of Dreamcatcher, she's the one who really shine in Boca for example

and Gahyeon is i think one of the member who have a really good delivery with her line, they are the part who often stand out as the killing point, like during scream era etc...

i would say more than having "talent" they were bringing "souls" to the group and their songs for me at least

I get the sentiment but as 12 years old group whose income is mostly tours and performances, you need performers not stan attractor. Stan attracting phase is way in the past.
