Or you can replace stagnate by "play too safe"
What do you think about this statement ?
Do you agree or not ?

I think there's possibility to try a lot of things without having to go completely the opposite way of what you're know for
She can try to do a song kinda like " four seasons"
It still have this ballad-y type of song she likes but it have some groove in it

Lilac was a great album where she tried things that's why it's one pf my favorite things with modern times
( which is an incredible album where you can still sense the IU touch but she totally dig into this Jazz sound which is rare in kpop)
But her recent album she seems to went back to play it safe
Which is regrettable in my opinion cuz it's when she took some risk that i think she do the best thing
? Her songs do have a wide variety. So I donโt understand why anyone thinks otherwise. Let me clarify โ I donโt think she has stagnated - she just approach songs in her own way and since she has a distinct โstyleโ - itโs always got the IU touch and elements that she prefers sonically.
Groovy IU songs across the different genres:
I forgot my fav Jam Jam:
jazzy:
Dance:
City Pop:
Your question structure is confusing.
But anyway.
Based on interactions on X, I am going with "nah", because I see all sorts of opinions.
- liked IU's early career You & I, 23, that was true Kpop, not any more.
- liked her Palette era, not The Winning, which is not at like her songs except for LWA
- Her old stuff is boring, it is only since Celebrity that she is enjoyable.
All that indicates that her music has not stagnanted, enough people are still disappointed comparing to some other phase of her career
And frankly I don't think majority of them would have even delved deep into her discography. Probably only the hits.
I personally was not impressed by the "The Winning" on the initial release. But later seeing live performances of The Shopper and then the amazing layered open framework of Shh.. now love those songs
Artists always have a challenge - to deliver something which is expected of them, a signature style and also deliver something that shows evolution, refreshing etc ,
While every listener will have a different opinion on whether that attempt was successful, the aggregate opinion is reflected statistically on the charts.
And since 2010, IU hasn't failed there at all.
This despite not having much of a fandom like the groups do (indicated by physical sales), fandoms will swallow anything, whereas the GP feels no obligation or loyalty.
Stagnation or not, is simply a matter of keeping pace with the GP tastes and IU has probably done it far better than most other acts for 15 years now, otherwise she wouldn't be still irritating WhyKnock

weird take when the main criticism of her latest mini is that it sounds too different from her what people want/expect from her.
can you name any other IU song that sounds like this?
Neither of these statements are true! Every time she has a comeback, she's doing something different. You can say, you don't like her music, you can't, you don't like her voice, but you can't say she's playing the safe game. Her latest album is another example.
There aren't many, especially MAINSTREAM Kpop groups or soloists, who done so many genres like IU! People just use word they don't even understand sometimes. Like: "boring", "safe" etc. I get that most Kpop fans don't know much about producing music, but still, people just love overusing these statements.
Honestly, if there are people or more like agencies who are playing "safe" is probably the BIG4, all of them! Even as a big SME artist fan, I can say, most of their songs are literally the same. They don't want to do different things, because that's what their fans like. So, they keep copying themselves. And most of the time, the songs are carried by the artists themselves. Taeyeon is a pretty good example. Give any Taeyeon song to an average singer, and most people won't like it.
Please WhyKnock let us hear your opinion about the goddess of Kpop and what you think
Please don't.๐คฃ
What is she suppose to do? EDM?
She already did that!
She peaked with Eight. Celebrity was also a 10 out of 10.
But overall, her songs all sound the same. She has a charismatic voice but her songs are very overrated. She's a far better actress than singer, i still get goosebumps over Hotel De Luna.
She's a great talent but something felt off for me with some of her recent releases. Unsure what it is, but her latest EP felt safe and boring. I guess it's whatever because she will achieve success. I can easily re-listen to Palette and Lilac, but hard to go back to her latest EP.
There you go, that's proof that her music hasn't stagnated
You may not like the latest change, but that also confirms it has changed.
Musically Lee Jieun peaked at Chatshire. Since then her music has stagnated, since she has decided to play it safer after all the ruckus created by the song Zeze.
What is she suppose to do? EDM?
More experimental stuff like what she tried in the Chatshire album

The only blemish to the Concert of KPop (TOBTTCOK, pronounced tob-tt (as in the Twice song) - cock) has annoyed the entire KPop world for 15 long years but the defeat inflicted by Bibi , who killed TOBTTCOK's two title songs in one shot, seems to be decisive, as seen by the sheer lack of respect IVE members showed to the now 1,352 years old.
She terrorized the 2nd Gen with the first style, she terrorized the 3rd Gen with the second style but the third style was weak which did not impress the 4th Gen.
Kinda yes, considering her last Ep, considering her whole discography nah, hopefully she'll bounce back
