Regarding this, the report analyzed that the usage rate of YouTube Music is high because there are many cases of using YouTube Premium and YouTube Music together. In the case of YouTube, you can use YouTube Music for free if you subscribe to a premium service that allows you to watch videos without ads.

"Most users focus on YouTube Premium benefits," the report said, "and the number of users who use YouTube Music alone is low."

Looking at the responses by age group, the rate of using overseas services was high among those in their teens and 20s, at 56.3 percent and 55.1 percent, respectively. On the other hand, among those in their 40s, the domestic service usage rate was 57.5 percent.

The report explained, "It was found that people in their teens and 20s use overseas services a lot because they have music from various overseas artists and can understand songs and information from various artists."

  • YouTube is free so the only money any artist can get from here is ad money (or if people pay for premium).

At least YouTube music pays artist for streams.

  • 3,000 isn't that bad a sample for the Korean population. Plus from personal experience Youtube is indeed more popular these days comparatively.

Still it is less than 0.01% of the population of Korea…

I don’t know, they could make online survey or some other type of survey to take larger sample size

3,000 is a representative sample. you don't need to poll a large group generally to figure out trends within a population

  • someone skipped statistics 101

I know that it gives 95% accuracy but they picked random people from all ages and it is the main problem! Are those people only from Seoul? Or are all those surveyed people are from the same social class and etc etc

Anyways there are official stats that provide their market share
