Thanks to @dsc, I'm feeling too nostalgic tonight. 😭 B.A.P being BTS's true spiritual predecessor!

  • Yes, I said it. Even if the members looked up to BIGBANG, early BTS was musically and stylistically closer to B.A.P than BIGBANG.

They came out with a whole short movie for this.

xx-jenn-xx What do you think? I know you like Moon Jongup and I'm guessing also B.A.P!

  • B.A.P was the standard.

they were untouchable and still can be.

They had whole ass movies for their mv's the talent is exceptional

  • superyeah

Changed the title of the thread from “Thanks to @dsc, I'm feeling too nostalgic tonight. 😭 B.A.P. being BTS's true spiritual successor!” to “Thanks to @dsc, I'm feeling too nostalgic tonight. 😭 B.A.P being BTS's true spiritual predecessor!”.
  • BAP is that group. i love them since debut. There is an old interview where RM says that BAP concept was what they wanted to do, and he meant that in no jealous way, only the fact when BAP debuted which was a year and a half before bts, they had a military concept. The interview is out there but i dont remember the show it was for.

  • superyeah Hey, you forgot to credit me, who just called B.A.P BTS's predecessors on your comment on my wall the other day, loll!! :meme-bonk:

B.A.P were huge monster rookies of their time that exploded internationally upon debut and early on their career was the biggest rival of EXO, who they ALSO inspired their early "aliens from another planet" concept and meaningful lyrics in their debut song MAMA with their own song Warrior! EXO who were the biggest new fish to fry in early 3rd gen lol.

And basically inspired early BTS in every way possible lol with their meaningful lyrics about society to their hip hop concept to even the 3 letters in their name beginning with "B", lol!! Along w/Big Bang & Block B! Anyone who was actually there who disagrees with me can fight me to the death on this lol!!

I don't care if I'm an ARMY now, I was a BABY first and B.A.P WERE the OG BTS! And I will never let anyone forget their impact on 3rd and 4th gen and the rest of the future generations of Kpop to come!! 😛

  • You're right! My bad. I should have credited you. You made a great point, so I'm glad you shared it with me. In my defense, I did always think B.A.P and BTS were similar in rapping style.

Amazing. I really just like revisiting and appreciating history without pushing some agenda because, honestly, these groups all deserve their flowers for what they've done. A little bit of inspiration is perfectly fine and healthy! I think K-pop fans should acknowledge this so we can all enjoy K-pop more.

That style of rapping... That was a style that was unique for its time period!

It's okay, I forgive you bc you accepted being educated so open-mindedly. And you're welcome! 😛 👍

They definitely are! And that's definitely not a coincidence, lol!

Agree wholeheartedly with this whole comment, but yes especially the bolded part is a message I think every Kpop fan needs to hear.

    YAAAAAS, PREACH BROTHAA, PREAACH~! 🙌 🙌 🙌

Thank you. And hey, I was actually there for that B.A.P "One Shot" era, so it's not like I'm a complete stranger to their concept and sound. :smirks2:

It was a really interesting time for all boy groups because they were getting away from "flower boy" concept and going for an edgier, darker concept instead. It was like the male version of girl crush. GOT7 was part of it, too.

This was a really cool collab stage for BTS and GOT7.

  • Hahaha, true, sry superyeah~ 😛 :smirks2:

    Omg, Rapson & GOTBTS! :holding-back-tears::green-heart::borahae:

You're right, I remember both B.A.P & GOT7's image suddenly taking a turn towards dark during One Shot & If You Do and being really shocked and also really loving it for GOT7! That was when I kinda became an Ahgase. Those dark sexy black leather pants concepts were always really popular in Kpop tho, from at least TVXQ's time at the beginning of 2nd gen and after 😛 (Don't know much about 1st Gen tbh, but could've even been popular then and started by someone before them, I just dk)

But definitely the first time I saw them do it, tho B.A.P was always very masculine from the getgo and I guess some of the members like Moon Jongup have slowly become more "flowerboy" over time sometime until their latest release "Gone" was a ballad and nothing like any of their previous concepts or TTs thus far 😂 :

GOT7 also debuted with more of a hip hop image but definitely became a lot more boyish and refreshing/cute during some concepts, especially during Just Right era! Such a shock when they followed it up w/IYD and gave me #WHIPLASH~ 😂

What an amazing performance on both GOT7 and BTS's parts, you can even see JYP getting really into it at 4:23 and bopping his head intently, like he's really feeling himself and GOT7~ ^^ Those were really the days when groups still put their all into performances and you could really hear their vocal talent even while doing difficult dancing on music shows and not just during radio shows & Killing Voice and the like. 8o

I love the "Video Game Start" virtual thing they have going on here~ 👏👏👏 Kinda before their time, like K/DA and Aespa and virtual AI idols and shit? 😂
