I definitely see the point of people wanting the character not the person behind the character.
But if a parasocial factor is involved, I can see it going the other way too.
There is this big Minecraft streamer called Dream, who always hid behind a mask. He did a face reveal and apparently received so much negative attention, that he deleted the video and went back to hiding.
I haven't seen this happen to a voice actor. I can see it happen to vtubers due to fans getting attached to the person. Maybe they imagined a certain "look" for Dream (not technically a vtuber, I guess).
It probably depends on the group how fans would react.

they will lose most of their fans if their real person was to be revealed
it doesn't matter if they are good looking or not
the current fans are ones who are attracted to the idea of the character
if they were handsome they would maybe gain fans for their looks but a lot of fans will be turned off because the illusion is now gone

PLAVE is a platform for them to realise their dreams that they didn't manage to get many many many years ago
So in fact we should support PLAVE even more and support their dreams and make them jobful

Idols stans and vtuber stans are just 2 sides of the same coin really.
there is an overlap but it's not very big
sure there might be idol stans who go to plave but that's only because they are so officially idols
if you look at the demo for isegye idol they have almost no real idol fans
plave is similar
i have no hard evidence mostly from anecdotes so there's no use arguing about this
bottom line is vtuber groups will never take the pie of real idol groups lmfao
