So it has become very apparent with all the disregard for the SEA and Japanese music markets from a lot of K-Pop fans here, that y'all do not realize how important both of those markets really are to a groups' success. As if they thrive in either of those markets, being only mildly successful in Korea will be okay, and they will still have huge staying power.
With that let me introduce some of y'all to non Korean versions of K-Pop songs, that are released on region exclusive versions of the artist's albums.
Miss A - Breathe (Mandarin Version)
I am pretty sure many of you did not realize there was an Deluxe Version of A Class that was exclusive to Taiwan. Taiwan tends to be a forgotten step child in many people's minds. When they are actually one of the coolest and oddest countries in Asia. They literally sometimes throw poultry at each other in government meetings to decide if a bill goes through. Anyways, I figured to start this off, I would upload and share this music video that I literally could not find anywhere on western websites. I actually feel the Mandarin lyrics vibe better with the busy instrumental and adlibs than Korean.
S.E.S - I'm Your Girl (Japanese Version - KREVA MIX)
Yes I know someone is bound to call me an old a-- millennial but I like the goofy sounds that were in the early 2000s pop, and this remix is really embodying all the quirkiness. I know S.E.S were monumental in Korea but I do not think people understand how attached people in Japan were to the group. I am proud to say I own this release in new condition and have it in my possession to this day.
S.E.S. - Sign of Love
I promise this will not be an all S.E.S list, and technically this is cheating as they did a Korean version of the song for their special album Surprise, after the Japanese version had already been released for over 2 years. It is just a really dang good song.
IZ* ONE - Violeta (Japanese Version)
I remember a lot of people were sad at them performing this at the 2020 MAMA instead of Panorama and I still stand by my statement that I actually really love this song, and quite a bit more than Panorama (though I love that song too). It just scratches an itch in my brain that I had no idea was even there.
Lee Jung Hyun - Wa (Mandarin Version)
So about 10-11 years after the original release of Wa in Korea, Jung Hyun decided to release it in Mandarin on an album she released exclusively for the Taiwan/Chinese market.
Seventeen - Oh My! (Mandarin Version)
Pretty much every Carat is aware that the boys release music in Japanese but, at a point in time they also released some Mandarin singles! And to this day they release Taiwan exclusive versions of their albums.
H.O.T - Various Songs (Taiwan Versions)

Sadly I do not own this yet, and no one who does own it, has uploaded it to the internet. So I will just have to share the images of this Taiwan album H.O.T released in the year 2000. I shall acquire it one day!
In Conclusion
I hope no one took this offensively, it was just meant to be an educational thing, as it is really sad and unfortunate how many people look at other Asian countries outside of Korea as aliens. When they literally enjoy the same dang artists some of y'all listen to daily.
If anyone would like me to share more Mandarin and Japanese tracks from artists you like in Korea, if they have them, as not all K-Pop artists do release things outside of Korea. I would be more then happy to help direct you to them!
Or if you just want to look into Japanese, and Taiwanese or Chinese artists I can help with that too.
If anyone really wants to adventure into new territory, like completely off the deep end.
I would love to share some Italian and Mongolian artists too, if anyone were to be interested. However a lot of that music that my grandmother and mother listen to and has introduced me to over the years is likely to be a much bigger culture shock than J-Pop, and MandoPop.
I really do miss having other people from my family's cultural origins on this forum. Heck just having lots of different cultures being shared is missed. We used to have a good chunk of Filipino users. We used to have a group of users who would carry full on conversations in Italian and other languages on here. It was nice.
