We talk a lot about the west but IMO post pandemic Kpop has seen significant decline in the Asian markets as well

Because its so boring these days

I was looking at my new playlist the other day almost 2/4 is new western pop 1/4 jpop and rest is kpop mixed with afropop/French/latin songs.

Kpop used to make half of my playlist before. I think if I stop coming up on AKP my lingering interest would slowly disappear too.

Speaking of YouTube, the last time we had a 100m+ for a debut in the YouTube weekly chart for a kpop act was last year.

I hope you mean this year. Because last year Asia was thriving.

Yea thats happened to a lot of industries from covid. I remember manga were massive during covid and hard to get but the popularity has since died down.

Its kinda hard these days to gauge populairty since we are split across so many streaming platforms but yea it does seem to be trending down.

Also we are not allowed to talk about youtube because then we'd have to acknowledge babymonster as a top group since they currently do better numbers on there than any girl other group (51m views in 9 days in a pre release and 15m on the dance performance)

It cannot be denied that KPop is in full retreat.

Isn't it normal that after the massive hype attention that BTS generated for K-pop and K-pop groups in general and after Covid ended that kept everyone chained to their homes, that K-pop won't do as great as it did in those years?

It's a shame, but not surprising.

Western artistes are always thriving every year. Reasons why we are seeing large streams is mostly due to Spotify autoplay system. YouTube and AM haven’t shown that much spike like in Spotify

Kpop used to be the #1 group in my but now its not.

They are always thriving but the pop scene seems to have felt more different.
