Does it also frustrates you if you see people fighting for a good cause, but they are actually very nasty individuals?

  • It's frustrating to see people who are vocal about social and political causes and have strong opinions on morality, yet behave in ways that contradict their supposed values. They quick to tell people to delete themselves, easily participating in doxxing, lying, manipulating, gaslighting, or outright bullying, especially toward those with different opinions or simply don’t like for whatever reasons. ( Fans for example )

It's perplexing how self-proclaimed "good people" can so easily, as if they turned a switch, become so vile and ugly .

I mean is great they bring awareness to important issues, but it’s also frustrating to see them being so toxic and narcissistic. It undermines any good take they have and they’re also one of the reasons why it’s nearly impossible to have meaningful conversations about sensitive topic these days ;(

  • I see a lot of conservatives pretending to care about the 'normal people', but when it comes down to it, they only care about giving money and tax breaks to the rich.

Seems they have caught on in the UK, where Labour just had an overwhelming win.

Conservatives are never there for the average Joe and even less for the average Jane.

UK general election results live: 'We did it,' says Keir Starmer as Labour wins landslide in general election
In a crushing night for the Conservatives, high-profile Tories including former PM Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg lose their seats.

  • For me actions speak louder than words. If they behave in a way that contradicts what they are advocating for then their words really don't hold any meaning to me, no matter how loud or vocal they are about it.

People use social issues/sensitive topics to have a 'gotcha moment' or virtue-signal all the time. Pretty sad and pathetic thing to do if you ask me.

It makes it even harder to call it out, because they can easily accuse you of being what they apparently fighting against.

  • Election season is just a headache and reveals hypocrites left and right. ;(

True they use it as a shield but that's on them. It doesnt reflect you at all. Still call them out because otherwise they will get away with their hypocrisy.

It can be quite frustrating indeed but discerning people will be able to see through it.

  • The loudest are usually the nastiest of the bunch. The ones deserving respect are the ones who act and contribute more without being overly pushy, and lead by pure example. I see people spew "To be silent is to be complicit," and then will accuse others of not helping the cause and force and bully others into complying with their beliefs. I think this is the worse way to gain support because the only supporters you will be gaining are halfhearted people who join due to peer pressure and those who care too much about public image. Sit down, explain, and persuade. Why can't we be a decent human being for the good cause when "helping this cause is the least we could do as decent human beings?" Oh the hypocrisy 🤷

  • Oh sure, but the right are now the ones to go towards scarier and scarier ideas, especially for women.

I think it's good you made a post about this topic in general.

As someone who agrees with the right side economically, I am thrown off by the political and social atmosphere which is incredibly hateful and scary. At this point, a sane American citizen who believes in less taxation and cost of living has no choice but to vote left regardless of what we think about the economy, etc. because the people on the right are so hostile and vile towards gay, women, and immigrants.

  • I know what you're talking about and it is super cringe to me. I experienced this same feeling earlier today after watching a girl I used to be best friends constantly post about free Palestine meanwhile her whole family supports a terrorist group in our home country that are known for killing innocent women and children.

There isn't necessarily any contradiction here...

Oh, right, we're not allowed to talk about that part out loud. :pepeshut:

I am interested in seeing what you have to say and if I made any contradictions since I am not well educated on the Israel-Palestine conflict. The only thing that I know is that Israel is trying to push Palestinians out of their ancestorial homeland and the terrorist group my ex-friend is supporting is ethnically cleansing an area from their ancestorial people (my people). I think its hypocritical to support a worldwide movement which condemns a country for ethnic cleansing and then supporting a group who is doing the same exact thing if not worse in closed doors. That's the definition of performative activism.

  • This seems like the most unbiased interpretation of the conflict. I definitely feel like there is violence on both sides however Israel being a legitimate country with actual army makes their attacks on Palestine way more violent and deadly as seen on social media. I totally see how the world recognizing Palestine as in independent country can create a domino effect with other rebel/separatist terrorist groups thinking its okay to start armed uprisings and other problems like Afghanistan, Taiwan, etc.

I feel like the a solution to this conflict would be for Israel and Palestine to create a new country with a unitary confederation or a system that preserves both cultures while working together economically . It is a difficult situation and I want it to be resolved quickly and peacefully. Seeing all those dead children is so sickening to me. Jews and muslims need to work together with forgiveness, empathy, and willingness to compromise.

There was a time when people with different politics could easily drink a beer together.

They might disagree economically, or about things like: "We need more high ways/no we need more train tracks". Now it's all about wanting to reintroduce medieval times by those on the right and in some ways be even more oppressive than the middle ages!

I disagree with you about some of the economic things as well, but can easily respect you and your point of view as it's not made of hate towards women, gay people, minorities, disabled people etc.

Also, assuming you're American, the Democrats (with some exceptions in congress) aren't even that lefty to people in my country lol. Things like Biden's focus on infrastructure would be more of a centre-rightist focus in my country.
