It’s funny to hear people say 3rd gen groups are irrelevant when I still regularly hear Twice and Blackpink and others on the street just as often as I hear some 4th gen groups. Just goes to show that unless you actually live in a place you really don’t know shit.
4th gen is definitely more relevant now but that’s not much of a surprise it’s like saying in 2016 that 3rd gen is more relevant than 2nd. It’s called the passage of time.

There is only 4 3rd gen girl groups left: twice, red velvet, oh my girl and dreamcatcher, that's it the rest are disbanded or soft disbanded, wjsn is the last one I thought could survive but it didn't happen. 3rd gen for girl group is over and soon the beginning of the end of 4th gen will start, we already watching 3 of the most prominent ones, aespa, ive and newjeans face declines and repeaks, and gidle and itzy contract renewal period are not far away with 12 and 20 months left.
The only thing great for me is twice is still bigger than most kpop groups even in their current situation and is clear no girl group from this gen career will be comparable, newjeans and ive were the only one with possibilities.

If we need to talk about generations.... Aespa is a late 3rd generation for me, same with ITZY. NJ and groups debuted after that I would say is early 4th generation groups. (2022-)

EXID is still active (sort of)
Busters and Hashtag are still around, but they are stuck in Nugudom and Busters has a whole new lineup.
Walking After U are still around, but they are k-rock
Obviously Weki Meki is in soft disbandment mode.

Mamamoo had their most successful 1st World Tour last year, released their latest EP in 2022, and doing 4 Solo World Tours right now on their 10th year.
EXID performing in Korea right now and released their latest EP in 2022 as well.
It's okay if you don't know anything about groups you don't follow, but stop talking or do some research before you write a comment. Almost every big 3rd gen groups are still active.
