The song and the MV usually serve as the promotion/marketing to buy the album. Similar to how Western celebrities release 1 or 2 singles leading up to the actual release of an album.

I actually think KPOP is more of an outlier in regards to releasing the album and title track all on the same day.

Yeah, back in the day when Twice 1st started releasing in Japan, they wouldn't really tell the date. Though, I think the Japanese fans probably got a heads up if they were in the fanclub. People just noticed a pattern that the MV would come out like 1 month from the date on the album (with only 1 or 2 days difference).

But, their last 3 Japanese title tracks have actually been released like 2-weeks ahead of time rather than a full month, and they have started listing the date the MV is dropping on the MV teasers. But, based on past patterns, my guess is the MV will be released on June 28th or July 5th.
