BTS BEATING ARASHI????????????

I know Japanese media and news has stated the popularity of BTS being huge but I think we have understated just how huge. J-ARMY keeps many things to themselves.

Yes came to say that the Reiwa era is from 2019 onwards and past the height of Arashi fever — but still impressive for both groups to get 1 and 2 despite BOTH being in hiatus!!!! Arashi since 2020!

In the era before - Heisei Era (1989 - 2019), Arashi was the top selling male idol group but still only #7 in the highest selling artists list. No. 1 is the wall that is B’z, who is also still active.

Lots of BTS antis in the JPOP realm must be seething at this.

Impressive even if its just 5 year data since in half of those 5 years BTS have been inactive as a group.

True. This is mostly 2019-2021 impact if we are being honest

And we have users on akp trying to convince us that BTS isn’t the biggest kpop act in Japan when they are literally the biggest foreign artist since Michael Jackson and consistently competing with the biggest local artists in Japan

Why are people saying Arashi are inactive? Because I remember them clearly releasing songs by Bruno Mars around dynamite era

the fact that BTS rose to the top thanks to their english songs still quite ironic. composed, produced, sang and promoted in English seem like the way to go.

UMG really took a lot of benefit from these English song from columbia despite not involving a lot.
