We hear all the time about how cordi and stylists need to "protect" idols and stop dressing them in tight or revealing clothing, but at the end of the day, this is a valid way for idols to get the attention they need to sustain a career.
Case in point 1, Kwon Eunbi literally built a career off her boobs and now she's sustaining a career in variety shows and all they talk about is her Waterbomb performances on shows.
Case in point 2, Natty in Kiss Of Life was a long-time trainee known from her Sixteen days, but I don't think anyone would disagree her body and outfits got them significantly more attention and how many people are talking about "This is why groups need to debut 18+ for mature/sexy concepts".
Many other examples such as Momoland's Yeonwoo, Alice's Sohee etc.
And yes, these idols know what they're doing. They're searching their names online 50 times a day. They know what the public is saying and what they want. Somi literally said she knows a related search word along with her name is "body".
My point is, fans can complain all they want and act like they want to protect idols, but at the same time, any time an idol wears a revealing outfit or show off their amazing bodies, fans would comment "MOTHER" or share and retweet this photo 200 times on their timelines to make it go viral. If this is how an idol can get attention and sustain a career, this is what they will do, because their livelihood literally relies on people's attention.
