Peak and number of weeks charting of K-pop acts' highest selling albums on European Markets

  • The site doesn't providence information from all European Markets, just SOME of them (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Portugal), but It's still interesting to bring up, out of curiousity.

Also, I brought up stats only from million sellers with European distribution, to be fair. Some acts can only chart in all markets with digital/streaming, so obviously some will have advantage. But to be honest, these are most of the biggest acts currently, so I think It was well covered.

  • I was sad when I had to search for 7 numbers, cause It just occurred to me since 2020 they don't have a proper album release, while everyone else's album is newer :pepe-puddle:

The way everyone thought they were gonna release an album in 2021 but it didn't happen....then in 2022, I expected a new album but they released an anthology album which is somewhat similar to a compilation album... :pepecute: :drinktears:

Even a mini album will do:pepecry:

  • 'Get Up' was NewJeans' first album with actual distribution on Europe and they were able to chart so good. Curious to see what their next album can do.

  • I also noticed your country kind of rejects K-pop and only 3 groups charted. There isn't many K-pop fans where you live?

Most people know what kpop is, but it's not very popular. There's barely any fans. In bigger cities you can find some fans of popular groups, but still nothing compared to other places. The market is really small already and people here still listen to our own artists a lot. It's rare that kpop songs gain traction (Cupid is popular though, but most don't know/think of it as kpop so..)

But it seems to be growing. And I've started to see more people selling + buying albums online, and even a lot of photocard trading which surprised me.

  • This is really interesting data, do you know if any of these artists have certifications in these countries (other than BTS and BP)? I'd expect a few to have album certifications at least, if not song certifications.

I know 5-Star is certified gold by SNEP (France) and ZPAV (Poland). They're the only kpop group other than BTS and BP to receive that. I wonder if they'll get more, like in Germany. :/

This is interesting. Here in my country, despite not being a small market, the population also values local artists the most. Even english speaking acts don't gain too much traction on our charts in comparison to local artists.
