I always see people say x group is popular in SEA countries bc they have a SEA member.. Is this true? Do Indonesians relate to a Thai idol and prefer them over Korean/Japanese etc idols? Because in my mind Thais and Indonesians for example do not share similar culture So idk it feels like saying Japanese like y group bc they have a chinese idol (both East Asian)

Why do people like to downplay SEA (South East Asian) fans?
SEA fans paved the way for KPOP to be internationally popular. Before groups become big in the west, it was SEA fans who were more invested into KPOP. People like to downplay the efforts of SEA fans but before the western world even got to know what KPOP is, it was SEA fans that got KPOP talking.
