Now this is awkward
[theqoo][EXCLUSIVE] "RODRIGO'S REQUEST"... CHOI YENA, 'PRIVATES HER MV'

lol this will do nothing but make Yena even more popular.
lol

lol
lol I guess i'm exaggerating a bit, but this ultimately wont matter one bit to her popularity in Korea. In a week, Yuehua will release an edited video without the offending parts and this will die down. In two weeks time, all Kpop forums will be inundated with NJ vs Jungkook threads.
-
I feel like it's also because the song title seems to send hate?
Like there are songs that outright reference other artist but it's in a positive way.
Some songs that comes to my head

This was not well thought through. -
I personally think everything was intentional, just Yuehua and the team thinking they'll get a pass.

I think it's just that the message she's trying to send is a bit muddled. Artists publicly admiring rookies isn't weird in Korea. IU wrote a song about f(x)'s Sulli when Sulli was still a rookie and no one thought it was premature. Jungkook was openly obsessed with Troy Sivan when Troye was still a rookie. A bunch of rookies and idol trainees have Yeonjun listed as their role model even though he's barely past being a rookie himself. Things move fast in the kpop world.

Yup.
They could have easily avoided the copyright issue by leaving out the copyrighted imagery of Olivia. Makes me wonder if a new MV will be released, similar to what was done with Blackpink’s “Lovesick Girls” MV.
They could have also avoided the controversy by using a different title for the song. I get that jealousy is a common theme in pop punk, hence the edginess of the title, but it just doesn’t work when the name of a real public figure is being used.
It’s a shame because the lyrics are actually decent. The song praises Olivia and embodies the spirit of pop punk. It’s just badly executed in terms of the title and MV.

something happened to lovesick girls?

There was a controversy regarding one of the scenes in the MV. Some nurses, particularly a nurse association, in South Korea felt that the scene objectified their profession, which pressured YGE to edit the part.
