Armys, do you agree?

  • That BTS have done a good job of maintaining their popularity?

Was having a convo with my moot and there were these two newspaper articles that came up, this one from one of India's biggest newspapers

    And this other one

And we both felt that BTS are everywhere still, in the media and elsewhere making their presence felt. Would you agree that they are as or more popular than ever before?

Like these are all from the biggest Indian newspaper's entertainment segment in just the past few weeks

Even Lilith and Suga being featured on it made it to an Indian news channel that I was watching the other day. About their mainstream presence, I see BTS merch, counterfeit or otherwise, in random street side stores be it tiny tan or BTS logo t shirts or BT21 tees and merch. I have been to 3 cities in different parts of India in the past month where I have seen BTS related merch randomly around in stores with other pop culture phenomenon like anime or popular US shows/franchises like Stranger things and MCU.

  • Absolutely. They're as popular as they've ever been and are still the biggest K pop band in the world and I don't think a couple of years away doing their service will change that. In all my 12 years of being a K pop fan, I have never seen the influence one K pop act has had than BTS. They transcend all age groups.

  • Not just maintaining but growing.

If you look at their growth since debut, they have this massive and significant progress. The jumps from Boy In Luv > INU/Dope > Fire/BS&T > Spring Day > DNA/IDOL/FL > BWL > Dyna > Butter/PTD. I think only BTS has this kind of trend in all of kpop. It’s only in 2022/23 wherein we don’t see as big of an improvement in comparison to prior years but that’s kind of expected since the group isn’t promoting.

Even though we are already seeing the numbers, I think BTS still has more room for growth in India given they haven’t promoted there yet. So are Europe, Canada, and Australia. Given the right mixture of promotions, army support, and good album, BTS can hit another peak.

  • I saw their MMA 2019 performance on our local tv channel this week.

They have really made it if they are being shown in our afternoon music segments

Yeah I see them turning up at the randomest places too

I totally agree with this, they can reach greater heights and grow the fandom when they return if they release the right music and do a proper world tour visiting regions they have rarely or never toured.

yes. they're still going good with streams & content. they're definitely still very much popular and even tho they're in the military, they're STILL THE BIGGEST K-POP ACT WORLD-WIDE

also they're deffo up w their popularuty, especially since my mexican uncle has asked me "so what has happened to BTS" and tells me if they're separated/on hiatus/broken up because of their military thing. if he knows ab them and that to the point to ask, then hell yeah they're popular

  • Let's be honest, a lot of "popularity" derives from recency bias - you have to keep the mentions of you recent, or once popular stars risk fading into the background, where it's harder to come back from.

Have they kept the recency bias up? HELL YES. This fucking hiatus is more active than some groups who are quote on quote ACTIVE.

between their brand endorsements, solo activities, multiple group songs since the festa dinner, and how active the fandom is keeping their name out there, BTS is not disappearing any time soon.

    Is he.....you know?

  • Agree!

    Their "hiatus" has been busy!

On the side note. I wish they stop worrying about armys waiting for them (worry is a strong word but you get my jist). Don't worry bts, we are and will be here, two years is nothing! They got used to the kpop industry ways and constant comebacks and promo due to groups expiration date, they forgot that western industry works differently. two or three years hiatuses are a normal thing, look at Adele, her hiatuses are long and she's as popular as ever. BTS have fans all over the world and they will wait for them whenever they are ready. 25/26, it's same, armys are with them

  • Absolutely. You know why because they are everywhere wether music, foods, cloths, books, movies, galleries, seminars even in school's examination/experimentation hence even language, literally everywhere. Their influence is massive.
