Karina spill the tea about their Manager not letting them know when they got Love calls for Gig

  • I don't understand

SM really tried to hold them down by not letting them know when they got love call for solo gig

Even Youngji said that she would love to have Ningning in her show because she think their personality would match well

And SM never did anything, why ????

I really hope SM 3.0 will benefit more for Aespa

  • SM blocked debut roles of a lifetime from SNSD's Seohyun, where the writers/directors of Train to Busan and Architecture 101 had specifically built up the main roles with Seohyun in their minds :wellr: After that, nothing shocks me from SM people anymore when it comes to this sorta things.

But tbf, this might not be an SM specific thing but a K-pop companies wide thing, where love calls and opportunities are being blocked from K-pop idols for 'fear of interrupting their idol group agenda'.

If I was Seohyun I don't know if I would ever recover from this. These 2 movies catapulted careers of so many actors and were blockbusters. No wonder she never looked back and left that company :skull:

This is very likely the case as we have heard other idols being denied offers from other agencies too. This makes sense business wise, sure fans don't understand because of obviously bias. The company having an agenda for the group is the most plausible thing, if the agency has a comeback planned or a member unit/solo set up in the near future, a member being off to say star in a movie or drama that realistically could take from a few weeks to uptona year to shoot could easily disrupt these plans.

Example let's use HYBE if all 7 of BTS were together now and you were planning on having them have a comeback atlest once this year, would you let any of the members go do something else? Say tae or kookie got an acting role.

Cool ok they went and shot a film, this film could be good or bad depending on writing etc regardless if it was a success or not, you as the agency profited very little from it. The idol got a good deal. But as a result of this the planned comeback was now pushed back months or even a year as other things came up like other members solos and other schedules. Now fans are upset 🤡🤡🤡 because no BTS comeback.

Deny them the acting role and boom planned comeback on time, fans are happy as they see full ot7 and you as the agency are happy as you see the biggest profit margin because of album sales and concert sales. Tv and movies give you nothing unless you are the ones directing them

    damn
Seohyun is my bias in SNSD
for me she is the prettiest in SNSD
and if she got those role
possibly she got the IT Girl title of the 2nd Gen
and she will overshadow/surpass her groupmate Yoona
maybe that another reason SM don't want to get that role for Seohyun

Yeah, I don't blame Seohyun for leaving SM after that.

Those were 2 golden opportunities that could have launched Seohyun's career into the top tier regions straightaway.

It's also hard to fathom, seeing how SM - in contrast with YG and JYP at those times - were focused on giving a wide array of opportunities in a fairly equal manner to all the members of their groups - and not just to 1 like with Suzy and Miss A, or the complete c***blocking that YG did with 2NE1 members to boost their 'mystery/scarce exclusivity' image.

Someone at SM really messed up, when they blocked those opportunities and didn't even inform Seohyun and discuss it with her, until way afterwards.

I get that point, that companies also have an entire group's schedule to fulfill.

But in the 2nd gen era, ironically it was SM themselves that had shown that it was possible to combine group activities with individual member activities on a frequent basis, with a lot of members having their side gigs, and often having performances and comebacks where 1 or 2 members - like Yoona - were missing due to interfering solo projects. And those times were handled smoothly.

Which makes it even a more bitter pill that apparently for Seohyun this couldn't have been handled in the same way at 2 major opportunities.

Tbh the seohyun case is a little touchy

Because of course they were very big deal and we all know now the impact these film had

But nobody could expect the impact of architecture 101

And i can understand the pov behind it from SM

Because they were trying to push every member in the same time by trying to give tjem reccurent schedules

But also seohyun was young at this moment and was still going everyday to school and we all know how Seohyun always prioritize her study and school

And suzy had to stop going to school to film architecture

So i can understand why they didn't want to let seohyun do this

But for train to busan the reason why she couldn't do it is because i remember how the SNSD members talked about how when they are reaching their 7th year SM invite them in their office

To ask them what they want to do as their solo activities and sooyoung, yoona etc.. decided to pursue an acting career

While Seohyun, tiffany etc .... At this time decided to pursue a music career and that's why they end up debuting TTS as a subunit

While the rest of the members did acting

So i guess they prefered to focus on her solo activities in music with TTS and her solo career than pushing her in acting
