Do most Kpop groups just plagiarize songs?

  • Based on these examples, are most Kpop songs just copy of other songs or relying heavy on samples? Does Kpop lack originality?

  • are these actually proven as plagiarism in court?

otherwise, they are just similar not plagiarized.

I never seen any real artist that are mentioned make a case against the kpop side, but maybe it's just me that have a less knowledge for this.

Also it's kinda not a black and white situation? Because for some songs, it turns out that they "bought" the songs, or they had the same producers, or they bought a rejected songs that are made with some artist in mind. Or it simply sounds similiar because they use the same chord progression.

Not to mention that many kpop fans will exaggerate everything...

  • Well why the real producer should sue the company or the artist himself

They should sue the other producer because company just accept what they are given by producer and artist just perform what the agency give them

Also it needs to be know if they just copy the songw sample it or bought the right of the song

Also tbh with every music artist from all around the world i think it's bound to happen that someday some songs overlap with other songs even if it wasn't the intention of one producer

They can't be aware of every song release each second in the world

And music creativity especially when you are trying to do Pop music who target the GP have its limit

  • Most groups do not write their own songs. They will just sing the song given to them, that their company owns the rights to.

Many songs are quite similar to other songs, but you wouldn't call it plagiarized. But some Korean composers have plagiarized a song that they claim that they wrote. It is not common, but does happen. When this happens its usually some not well known composer that they plagiarized.

Just like there are programs that can rate how well a song will do, which definitely Western companies use and I am sure Korea companies use, there are most likely programs that evaluate if a song is "plagiarized" or not.

  • Some kpop groups just remake past popular songs for easy hits.

I think there is more honor in that as the OG artist will get some royalty money and they have to give contest for the remake.

  • I think that's a problem with general pop genre.

If you listen to popular songs of the past few years, they all melt into each other without anything really standing out.

  • Yes, they remake songs that are big in America. it's not a stretch to say most kpop songs are copies of songs in America, they probably haven't gotten sued because these western labels don't pay attention to the whole of k-pop, maybe just the big acts, so most of it goes undetected, but some songs I wonder how they didn't get sued.
