Does anyone miss the official positions (lead dancer, lead vocalist etc)?

that type of ppl to b*tch about that are gonna find something new to b*tch about imo the titles are part of what made kpop unique from other boygroups/girlgroups in other countries skill issue

Yes

Honestly not really for example Purple Kiss who should be mail vocalist? Goeun or Swan? Both need to be... And there are many situations like that. It should always just be: vocalist, rapper, dancer,
There can also be a center, not to mistake it with visual or face of the group.
And there always are and will be leader/captain and maknae as well.
It's already too many things.

Nope

i feel like generic positions didnt highlight the members' strength
or it is a way to hide the members' weaknesses
either way if i saw a group i sure do want to know their positions to better assess the members

Not really, it doesnโt fit with 4th gen dynamics at all

Swan and Goeun are both considered main vocalists even if it's not official. There were many groups with two main or lead something before.

The main vocal, lead vocal, sub vocal, main rapper, lead rapper, sub rapper, main dancer, lead dancer, center, leader, fotg things?
Aren't they still used? Even tho maybe not officially announced, but aren't the fans still use this?

Good thing
-
maybe main vocal, sub vocal, rapper, main dancer or even center only
not the visual because almost all the GG in the 4th Gen already have multi visual member -

I kinda liked the official roles, it was 1 of the things that made K-pop feel so different from the western pop scene, and it felt similar to me to sports teams or MMO online games, where you can have designated roles and specialisations that lift teamplay to a higher level, and where you could excel in specific specialisations.
Maybe it's not needed anymore, because K-pop companies are looking to make their groups more similar and acceptable to a western audience? Or maybe it's not needed anymore, because since lipsync and autotune have become dominant, there's no need anymore for things like specialised vocalists in group?
-
Yes (except for the visual position), but I see why companies aren't doing them anymore. Too many fans argue whether *insert idol* deserves their main vocalist position or if another member should have the position.. But it's a double edged sword. Now that more groups have no official positions, kpop fans can't fight over the positions given to the idols they can just fight on what members are better than the other or who should have what official position. Take kprofile comment sections of groups like Enhypen who only have like center leader and maknae as positions for example.
Can't win with kpop stans.
