Preorders are not sales. They are anticipated/expected sales by retailers who will buy and stock albums in advance.
It is a critical point for them especially with Baby Monster and New SM GG debuting later this year.
I estimate 1.5 million total if it is a trash album, then they start to decline thereafter. 2 million if its awesome, and they start to grow thereafter.

Groups in general have momentum. Even if a song is trash, if the previous songs were really good it will sell and chart well. But then, if a song is trash, the next release will not sell or chart as well.
An example is Brave Girls. After they blew up, the next song even though it was 5/10 charted really well, but thereafter they just declined.

I think its a bad example. Their music was allways competitive and a reason they gained new fans. But songs like awr or how come 2 didnt got any promotion. The korean fandom declined because of the actions of the company. Internationaly rollin was not that big to begin with and they gained many new fans with queendom who never got to see a comeback or new music. Brave Girls is just to different compaired to the typical kpop careers.
