Idol groups with near perfect music show encore stages are usually edited?

  • well i don't think or maybe we don't know

but usually some show are broadcasting live on youtube no ?

so i don't think they have the time to edited it

so they might edited when they repost the video on the youtube channel, and tbh it's the first time i see knetz talking about encore stage being edited, so maybe it was the first time or it doesn't happen very ofteen

Yes, many K-pop acts have edited encores or just lip-synced to the backtrack on their encores. It's not new. This trend started in 2020 for whatever reason and now we've programmed our brains to only associate inhuman perfection with live singing.

  • The editing of that video didn’t change much of it. It just made it less awkward. If that’s as far as they go with editing then those who were praised for their encores are still impressive (we are not even sure if they’re edited since they sound the same as the live broadcast version. This is the first time the live broadcast sounded different from the post video like that).

I mean we know all types of production videos (live singing or not) has some type of professional editing that changes the raw version a little bit ^like the video at the post above.

However encores have always been the raw version because they are broadcast and live singing hence why idols who sound good/stable despite the shitty mics and in ear off are impressive. Seeing how kpop became heavy on lip-syncing, raw live singing in encore is interesting to see.

AR has always been very obvious though. It’s not the same as encore lives at all. You can hear every difference in pitch, laugh, breath, adlibs in the encore version that matches the physical expressions the person doing at the moment. Please it’s delusional to deny it.

  • a few years ago encore meant no backtrack, no lip sync and no editing

I guess live singing is becoming a big taboo nowadays

  • The problem is autotune and overprocessing. Everyone calls me a senile old loon but it's the truth.

Autotune means singers never have to hit notes anymore. Apparently there is even live autotuned mics out there that change your pitch in realtime?

Plus all these vocal processing tools have created songs like Panorama by Izone that are IMPOSSIBLE for even the best Kpop vocalists to sing in tune on a live stage. Only the highest of sopranos could sing that song live, everyone makes fun of Izone for having too high pitched, girly chipmunk voices but they're actually NOT CHIPMUNKY ENOUGH to sing that song live.

A third problem unique to the music shows is that the sound systems sound so damn flat with live singing. Unlike autotune, there are actually SOME vocal processing tools that are valid and help to really enhance a singer's natural voice - basic things like echo/reverb and delay that dont pitch correct but just help make the singer's natural tone shine through and sound extra in a good way. But every time i watch an encore, the singer's voice coming through my headphones is like a literal Powerpoint Presentation coming from an insurance seminar, its terrible.
