How badly kpop will be affected by the global recession that's coming to hit us like a 18 wheeler?

  • A massive global recession is coming

Big companies are laying off people with no stop in sight

People have less and less of disposable income

How badly will this affect kpop?

Mid groups are already feeling the effect as their tours are not selling as well as 2 years ago.

I think groups with younger fandoms will also feel the heat. Parents won't have the extra income to indulge their kids on buying kpop stuff.

  • Actually being here in tech big companies are laying off because they invested badly during the pandemic way too many hires and not enough vision. The industry of itself is not under recession. Sorry had to randomly clear that up. Don’t buy into the click bait articles. Kek.

Tech was bloated but there are jobs in other up and coming companies.

Seconding this, being in the tech industry myself. Many of these big companies literally hired people with no actual work waiting for them just to say they hired the best and brightest. They then hired other people to manage them and find things for these people to do - and rumor is that a lot of those people are getting laid off come Friday. I dunno who the hell thought any of this that was sustainable, but their stupidity should not be a reflection on the actual tech industry.

Now, the entire economy is not great and still feeling the ill effects of COVID, but that's a separate issue.

There are other events happening independent of tech

  • Yea not denying other problems, just giving my view that what is happening in the tech industry isn't necessarily a sign of things to come.

my industry is not doing hot either and they are lean already

  • People have been calling for Kpop's downfall since i first started following it almost 4 years ago. And apparently even before then, 2nd gen stans whose faves were heading for disbandment were already proclaiming that Kpop was over back in the mid 2010's lol.

Kpop will be just fine, same as it has been. The top groups will continue to one up each other or be leapfrogged by up and comers. The nugu groups will continue to struggle. Some mid groups will make the quantum jump to superstardom, others will stay mid, the rest will fall away into nugudom.
