I think 2022 was a great year for them, especially in terms of expansion in China with MANIAC and Japan with CASE 143.

No. It's like saying they double count the expensive version of Proof because of it's high price point.
For example, a sale of a 15 bucks album counts as 1 sale. Then, a 70 bucks album also counts as 1 sale.
They only downweighed the album if it's too cheap like if it's 3 bucks or something like how a lot of Chinese cheap digital albums got downweighed alot.

Since God's Menu, there wasn't a single era where the title track wasn't important for Stray Kids's career.
First, God's Menu, which was such a game changing and blew up their popularity. Back Door, despite being a repackage song, helped to stabilize their momentum while they had to be in 11 months hiatus until Thunderous.
The last was, also, an extremely important song to put them on the map in China, since It was a popular trend with the general public and opened the doors for the Maniac trend which went viral with K-pop community there and also was their biggest song globally since God's Menu.
In the middle of both we had Christmas EveL which was a popular trend on tiktok and expanded their reach and monthly casual listeners.
And, Case 143, the queen that became popular in Japan and has been charting on japanese plataforms since then, also made them much more successful in the country than they already were.
I must say... they are probably the most sane people in JYPE's producing team at the moment. Really know their strengths and what they are doing with their music. I'm curious for the next era.

Not surprising. Proof didn't have any single materials to carry the streams, and it's quite literally only have like 3 new songs and 1 that was re-released into Spotify after so many years.
I've been saying, BTS have such a strong discography. Their last album release was BE in Nov 2020, which then got carried over until 2021. But then, they didn't exactly release an album that year (only Butter & PTD), so it's insane how they're still pulling huge numbers despite the lack of new releases all throughout these years.
For example, Taylor was actively releasing new music and re-recordings since 2020. Same with Abel and Drake.

Not really. No one said to inflate the price of an album tho. But it makes sense why they downweighed the cheap ones since it's almost bordering the price of a single track.
Also, IFPI has a method of counting sales in each countries/regions just like how they consider if the streams are coming from a premium or free account. Notice how a lot of artists on the top 20 list last time were American artists. If the streams coming from your discography came from the US, UK or Japan it has more value than say an Asian country- again due to the higher value of music in those markets. Data is much more complex than you think it is.
