Do You Think Any Other 4th Gen Boy Group Will Not Only Chart High, But Be As Stable As TXT On Korean Charts This Year?

  • TXT Title track highest peak on Melon this year, was at #2.

Their b-sides highest peak on Melon was between #9-#6 with all 4 side songs.

Which made them the 2nd or 3rd act to chart their entire album inside the Top 10, since the Melon chart reform.

CURRENTLY their b-sides go between #60-#40, but does occasionally drop down to the #20s.

Its been a month already since their comeback, and Sugar Rush Ride, their Title track, is still in the Top 10 (was just at #6 earlier, but now as I write this, its at #9).

It only left the Top 10 five times, because of the new songs coming out, but kept managing to get back in the Top 10 position.

Everyone thought they'd free fall, but their doing great.

The Temptation album even spent 3 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard 200, becoming the 3rd either Korean act or Kpop act to do so, after BTS and BlackPink (I think it was Korean act overall though).

Just the other day, TXT released a unpromoted OST song, and already it became the FIRST 4th gen group OST to chart on ALL Korean charts.

Its highest peak was #23 on Melon.

Who do you see from 4th gen boys, getting these type of good results on Korean charts???

  • I hope it's ATEEZ

I love ATEEZ, but music is a big factor.

Atiny and some kpop fans might love their music, but the General Public could find it noisy, unpleasant, or in general not their cup of tea.

The reason TXT managed to stay in the Top 10 on Korean charts, even after a month, is because their songs was easy going, and didn't have anything extra going on musically.. If that make sense lol

  • If the Boyz couldn't do it, no 4th Gen bgs can as for now. SK wise, 4th gen bgs have grown and will do better than before but not to that extent.

TXT's Korean fandom's building has been a long time in the making, since 2020 and Can't You See Me.

Not gonna lie, but it made me think that if The Boyz was from the Big 4, and had the marketing, budget, promotion, and just in general the clout, could they had gathered a fanbase, and had them chart well and get album sales??

Cuz if I'm being honest, their album was GOOD.

And their Title track "Roar". Was very sensual and a little R&B driven, which made the song sound fire.

Even the b-sides did what it had to do.

So seeing how their b-sides left the Top 100 on Melon after one day, and how their Title only been between the 60s - 90s, im like how????????????

Even now as I write, " Roar" at #93 on Melon.

But the album was bomb bro.

Being in a Big company definitely help, cuz ain't no way

  • Tbh no. TXT's success with this cb wasn't like a big out of nowhere thing, they've always been growing each comeback and have been the best charting 4th gen BG as long as they've been active. Run Away still the most liked 4th Gen BG song, GBGB being the highest charting 4th Gen BG song on Melon Daily (until SRR), etc. They were pretty close to breaking through in 2020 but the chart changes fcked them up. Then came HYBE Game Caterers which definitely grew their exposure by alot, their episodes trending on YT SoKor, and here we are.

The Boyz was the closest, but lately each of their comebacks has been performing worse than the last since the hype from Kingdom is starting to wear out. At this point TXT are only competing with 4th Gen GGs and 3rd gen BGs like NCT.

    I got 2 questions :

(and im not a Deobi, nor do I stan The Boyz, I just really liked their comeback lol)

But my first question is, before Kingdom, was The Boyz charting high on Melon an just Korean charts in general?

Also, what do you think is the reason they falling off each comeback, even though their Title tracks have been pretty good (Thrill Ride, Maverick, The Stealer, and now Roar)?

  • Nah. Kingdom (or Road To Kingdom rather) grew their exposure by a ton and The Stealer (their cb after it ended) did really well for a 4th gen boy group. I remember then topping Gaon Download, etc like they were the only other 4th Gen BG that could come close to TXT. Thrill Ride & Maverick did pretty well too.

Idk what happened cause they're not the only group from Kingdom to be losing their hype. I think they just really failed to grab the attention of the GP unlike TXT where you could argue a niche portion is paying attention to them

    Ahh okayy

  • That boyz planet or peak time. Probably.

Take a note, TXT melon followers around 130k rn, it grows from around 80k-90k during gbgb. TBZ is 2nd with 60k, the rest 4th gen bg are far below TBZ. Roar uls is 40k-50k, cmiiw, while SRR is 150k. See the gap? If 4th gen bg wants to hit daily chart and 24hits, at least they need 90k-100k uls. Depend on which digimon have a comeback at that time.

  • Oh I forgot to mention there's ne possibility in the future which is the boys Planet bg. Eventually it could work but it's still unknown for now

The boys planet group and the peak time group, I dont see them blowing up to be this BIG thing tbh.

They'll probably do good, since they came from T.V.

But again like I always say, its the music that'll determine everything.

No matter how good the vocals are, how good the rap is, and how good you can dance and make facial expressions..if the music is TRASH or MEDIOCRE, then you just not gonna make noise lol
