G idle always felt like 3rd gen come on now lol even their style and sound wasn't that much different the whole 4th gen talk only started with itzy/txt that's when people started to talk more often about 4th generation

It started in 2020 I think. Definitely not 2018 at the very least. I feel a generation starts in and around when there is a first “national hit” or “definitive” type song or some event like that. Which only happened in 2021. Literally nothing happened in 2018 for it to be a new Gen kpop fans mad crazy 😭

When Next Level & Savage started smashing out of the gate and older groups were either losing their relevancy digitally or failed to catch up with the younger groups. I can see 2020 too
I can see the "4th gen started in 2018" arguments though, people are saying 3rd gen started in 2013 yet it took 3 years for them to really have a massive generation defining hit. And by that I mean third gen groups completely dominating, like by 2016 the only 2nd gen group that was even in the top30 on the yearly chart was Wonder Girls

yeah but could you tell in 2020
yeah i felt like that was the year i really felt the generation shift
before it seemed like other groups had debuted and people were saying 4th gen but they weren't dominating at all before 2020.
