Key thing here is that it’s the OG employees that are leaving, which makes me suspect they may be Bighit employees.

But right now I’m more curious what is making them leave. Because Hybe is a big company now with more resources and I’m expecting they have better payments too. The article also mentions that those leaving are the ones who also had affection for the artistes.

This kind of decision to leave is kinda baffling ngl

  • few things:

    - physical/mental burnout - imagine working there since BTS hit it bit, and the pressure and all of that must been crazy... especially with fan demands, and constant nitpicking

    - contracts - dunno how their deals looked, were they like to the end of the world kind of deals or they've had deals for 2-3, 5 or more years but then when it ends it's bye bye time

    - BTS enlisting - kind of make sense remember we are now just in january 2023, and it says "most original members left last year" but yeah 2022 has just ended, so maybe company let some people go because they don't need them for that group-hiatus time

    - hiring big names - just like with Min Heejin, we've heard even more news that they've grabbed some music producer from one company, some this specialist from other one etc. maybe Bang PD is collecting people from industry that he respects, and enjoys their work?

  • Many people leave companies for many reasons: don’t like new top management or changes, burnt-out, want new challenges, life changes etc. Even Chairman Bang stepped down as CEO and changed his role. Many of the original staff could feel they have done their best and want something else. Also they much have worked hard too to build up BH and HYBE. If they have company stock, they will be fine even if changed jobs.

TL;DR Article mainly concerned about the recent Korean history mishaps with Enha and NJ. Speculates that it’s because of employees leaving and HYBE neglecting cultural awareness training. Not sure how else the two situations are linked

    ——————————-

Sports Seoul | Reporter Jung Ha-eun] Compared to its reputation as a global entertainment company, its ignorant remarks and complacency disappointed. Artists from HYBE have been embroiled in rumors since the beginning of the year for inappropriate words and actions due to the lack of historical awareness.

ENHYPEN J apologized again for his remarks, which recently sparked a "controversy over disparaging Korean history." In a live broadcast with member Sung Hoon on the 10th, Jay said, "(Korean history) feels like a short story," adding, "Other countries are really endless." "Korea passes by so quickly," he was criticized for undermining Korean history.

Jay was suspected of his sincerity by using the expression "Whatever the reason" in the first apology. In the end, he bowed his head in his second apology, saying, "It was really imprudent of me to misrepresent the deep history of our country, who lacked the vocabulary to properly express my apology."

Daniel, a Korean and Australian multi-national, also described the recent Lunar New Year holiday as "Chinese New Year." He is on the cutting board. Daniel caused controversy on the 19th when it was revealed that he asked fans, "What do you do to 'Chainese New Year' through the communication app 'Poning'."

Daniel later apologized, saying, "I deleted it immediately after realizing the mistake, but the message has already been delivered to many people, and it has become irreversible," adding, "My expression was inappropriate and I deeply reflect on this part because Lunar New Year is a holiday celebrated in various countries and regions including Korea."

◇ Large number of original members change hive, lack of crisis management

Jay and Daniel were born in 2002 and 2005, respectively, at a relatively young age, and it can be understood that they lacked preparation for crisis management not long after their debut. However, the reason why it cannot be dismissed as a simple "mistake of words" and the "ignorance" of the parties is because of their global impact.

ENHYPEN and NEW JINS are artists from the Hive label, which is creating a global group set around the world, led by BTS. At the same time as his debut, he is meeting with global fans through overseas debuts such as Japan and world tours, and will continue to expand to the world.

If artists with this ripple effect have a wrong perception of history, the problem is not simple. Each of their words and actions will represent the Republic of Korea and affect global fans who encounter K-

Moreover, in the case of Jay, the temperature difference between the first apology and the second apology is clearly different. It is difficult to rule out the possibility that someone wrote the second apology on behalf of him. Daniel also contrasts with BTS, who posted a Romanized greeting for the Korean word "Lunar New Year" as "Happy Seollal Greeting," despite being under the same Hive. It means that the tissue in the hive is out of sync.

Coincidentally, according to the music industry, a large number of original members inside Hive resigned last year and experienced employees recently joined the company. Most of the K-pop industry officials said, "As a large number of existing members who had a lot of affection for artists in Hive resigned, we hired new talents." The recent series of events are proof that the problems of the internal organization have been revealed.

As communication channels with fans such as SNS have been diversified, it is also the responsibility and duty of the agency to pay attention to the words and actions of global idol members and provide proper education. The majority of idol members currently active have no choice but to be accompanied by the absence of historical awareness because they have not been properly in high school due to their trainee years since they were young. Recognizing this point, it was necessary to fully conduct history and cultural education for its artists before standing on the global stage, but this incident is a painful mistake of the agency that did not.

The company growing bigger and bigger could simply mean worse working conditions and less freedom (that's been my experience anyway). And that's usually all it takes for people who joined a company when it was smaller to leave.

  • It’s probably just better pay. I’m pretty sure if any staff has ties to the management of BTS, they’d be able to go to any company and get paid more than whatever HYBE is paying them.

Think of it like football players that are on winning teams get offered better contracts/more money by losing teams because they want to recreate their success.

So yeah, it’s probably a ton of BTS staff, that are shopping around for more money/don’t need to be there to manage BTS as a group.
