Spotify pays artists between $0.003 - $0.005 per stream on average.

That works out as an approx revenue split of 70/30 - so that’s 70% to the artist/rights holders and 30% to Spotify.

REMEMBER: The rights holders of a song can include; the publisher, songwriter and the master recording owners (i.e. the artist and/or label if they’re signed to one).

    So for 900 000 streams every month : Estimated Royalties $ 3,933.00

  • If it doesn’t directly, it at least allow the group to reach a wider amount of people, which can lead to the group being checked out more and help gain a fanbase which translate into making money in other ways.

At least I would think so. I’m not entirely sure how spotify streams and getting money for them work exactly…

  • For a group like Red Velvet who're not credited yes it sucks. For a group like (G)I-DLE who is credited it can be very interesting.

but RV has 7 times more listeners than Nature

so they money is also 7 times bigger

    that's 28k it's good money

but yeah it should be 28k for 1M stream :D

I don't compare Red Velvet to Nature

I explain that streaming is more interesting for artists who are credited on their song because they will receive a larger share of the sum. While an uncredited artist will receive much less or almost nothing.

  • i saw something with 1$ per 250 streams. but i wonder is there no difference between premium and free user?

I wonder how they finance it. If i pay 120€ per year for premium but listen to a lot of songs so they have to give 240€ to the artists how make they money?

I don't know about the premium vs non premium, but I know for sure the country matters. Like if you're getting 1 million streams from Western Europe, US, Japan and other rich countries vs 1 Million streams from India or Indonesia for example, it does make difference.

they divide the amount u pay spotify each month between each spotify stream that month in that country. bubt 30% of that goes to spotify. So take 30 euros off that number. so if there were 1000 streams that month in your country they would pay 9 cents to whoever owns the music streamed. Its like a big pot each month as far as i know.

but if in my country i pay 10€ each month and there are 9 other people listen as much as me but without premium. than 3€ goes the spotify and the other 7€. 90% goes to other artists other people listen to and BE only gets 10% and than gives 5-10% of that to BG? :/

the people who don't pay for spotify get ads that supposedly give out revenue to the artists but its obviously less than the 7 euros a premium user pays , but yes ur money (70% ) goes into like a pot of money everyone brings in wether or not they pay for spotify and gets divided by what u all listen to, as far as i know
