Do people think that media should only write positive article? With how big bully is in Korea, it just time will tell when it explodes with the public with how strong the victims going after her. Kakao just add fuel to the fire. 
i think "threatened" is the wrong term, because it's a little dramatic. if you ask me, they saw a situation that people were passionate (engaged and would bring web traffic) about and exploited it with little regard for the wellbeing of those involved (especially Garam's)

But, the fact the girl who accused Garam lawyered up early makes that unlikely. Might not have gotten as big initially, but eventually someone was going to pick it up.
I still remember when knetz kept thinking that Garams friends who came out to vouch for her were all fake HYBE-made articles and how knetz totally ignored HYBE's statement which tried to explain the situation. Those Kakao articles really did a good job in fueling the fire against her and LSFM.
Congrats Kakao! You won this round. Your media play completely ruined a young teenager's life. It probably felt like early Christmas to you.

That Kakao Facebook page also had smear articles against NJ. But NJ's debut was such an abrupt surprise and immediate hit that they were already too popular for the articles to affect them that much
